Now that I've re-established my roots as a Welshman, I thought I'd enquire if any other ParkFans have been to Oakwood Park in Narberth, Pembrokeshire? It's a small and modest park, by enthusiast's standards, but it has an awesome wooden coaster called Megafobia, built in 1996 by Custom Coasters International. I didn't have a lot of time at the park during my recent visit, but I did get a chance to ride Megafobia and, as a lover of woodies, I wasn't disappointed. As a ... er, larger rider, the fit was a bit of a struggle but I managed it, and I'd definitely recommend it as one of my favourite wooden coasters.

Oakwood only has a couple of coasters; besides Megafobia there's a Gerstlauer Eurofighter called "Speed: No Limits", which I didn't ride, and a couple of other kiddie/family coasters. There are various other rides and attractions at the park, including a number of water rides such as an Intamin giant flume called "Drenched".

In summary, Oakwood is a charming little park that's got at least a few ace rides and has a lot of potential for future expansion. It's certainly the best park in Wales, for whatever that's worth. If you should find yourself in Cymru, I'd recommend Oakwood on the strength of Megafobia alone.

Here's the website.

There are so many credits that I need to get there.

Same here, Shane. I've been here on and off for 6 months now and I've yet to get to any parks in England. I hope Alton Towers survives for a visit, they're currently getting slammed by the UK press.

I love that coaster!

And the reason why it's awesome?

Answer: Dennis McNulty

Sadly, he's no longer working in the industry.
