We were thinking of going to Williamsburg on March 31 so we could be there the morning of April 1. I know Easter is the later part of April so I was hoping school would be in session on April 1. Does anyone know?

school is in session

For York County Schools, Newport News, and Hampton, that day is a half day. James City County has off that day. And for all of them that is the Friday right before Spring Break.

(All of this is assuming it doesn't snow again.)

I hope it snows again... so passmember preview day is super empty...

Remember if it to "DEAD" at the park then mang. will shut it down for the day. been there had it done to me at BG and at WC(did get some comp ticket for my trouble). Also I thank it is not as exciting to ride the coasters "by myself". The people on the ride screeming and cheering is half the fun of some of the rides at the park. Thank of it, how much fun would the bumper car be by yourself..LOL

I am trying to plan our trip for this year and would like some input. I had it all worked out in my head that I would go mid-may, that way I get affordable lodging and the place wouldn't be packed. After checking the BGW site I find out that they aren't open during the week in may, and the rooms I want will cost about $1,300 more for the week in june. BGW is open for the whole week twice in april. Would April 16-23 be a good time to visit and is the weather warm enough for the water rides to be open?

I don't think anyone can accurately say whether or not it will be warm enough. I can be 80 one day in May and 40 the following day. Warm days will not level off until end of May/beginning of June. It is open for two weeks in April all week because those are the big spring break weeks for public school in the region. Crowds would more than likely be not too bad but stand a chance of having a good number of people.

I hit Griffon ~72 times last year. Three times every morning during HoS helped me out there

Quick question for the people who go especially early on weekdays in May(or used to). Since I'm a Senior, I leave at 2, so my friends and I are going to start going to the park on Fridays around 2:30ish. Anybody know about crowds then, mainly in May??

Fine. Fridays at the park when school is in session are pretty close to empty. It doesn't increase much after school either.

Based upon last year's experience, Friday evenings are a great time to go. We would go after work and arrive around 6:00pm. We would have plenty of time to ride several coasters, eat dinner and still catch several Illuminights performances. I didn't experience any Friday that was overly crowded, in fact, they would often park us in England or the prefered lot, and we didn't even have to pay extra!!!

If you can stand the 100 degree heat, now is the time to go. The park is dead. I mean, really dead. Like parking everybody in the England and France lots only kinda dead.

I would LOVE to be there at a time like this. I have a weird spot in my heart for empty places. If I walk into a mall, restaurant, movie theater, etc, and there's no one else around, I get this weird feeling.

Agreed. I was there Sunday and even then we didn't wait more than 5 minutes for anything! Not even "Europe in the AC".

Well today was NOT the time to go. Good grief, people really showed up for the first non-90+ degree day. The park was PACKED all day. Very long lines everywhere. They had to use the overflow lot after about 2:00. Pretty impressive for a Thursday.
