News New Vekoma Website & Ride Concepts Revealed

Vekoma has finally updated their website and revealed several new ride concepts they have in the works in the process. Check out the new page at https://www.vekoma.com/.

The new website confirms several rumored concepts I had heard including a replacement for the aging Suspended Looping Coaster (SLC) now named the Suspended Thrill Coaster (STC), and their all new take on the Flying Coaster. Take a look the some concept art:

Not only does the site show off some upcoming concepts, the company seems to have finally convinced Disney and Universal to allow them to officially confirm which projects they've been apart of. They now have database of the projects they've worked on across the world. Though, there does seem to be a handful of omissions for one reason or another.

Most of the omissions are rides that have not been built yet, which is why Vekoma has not posted them.

I noticed that Rockin' Roller Coaster and Space Mountain Paris was missing. I am sure there are others as well.

Love the Flying Coaster concept art, especially against the backdrop of the Double Arch-like sandstone. Not that I would want to see a coaster in Arches NP, but a coaster flying through such scenery would be awesome. That would be Mouse-quality themeing though...

I've noticed in past Vekoma concept art that they drop their layouts into similar landscapes. I don't think that this concept art is for a real location but one that they use for their off the shelf designs.

One thing that I wanted to point out in that art specifically was that it appears based on the train design that Veko is finally moving to what I interpret as more of the B&M style loading instead of Veko's usual "Lie & Fly" method. They'd gone with the Lie & Fly loading method in the past due to B&M patents which are floating around here on the forum somewhere. I have to imagine that they finally came up with a better way to load without infringing on B&M's patents.

My other observation is was the choice to go with two across seating which makes each car of the train look unusually long. I have to hope that they will offer 4 across seating if requested, but it seems as if Veko is avoiding that after their issues with Battlestar.

There’s a rumor that Veko developed a method where the track is perpendicular to the ground, so you load standing up, then the car rotated and the track moves to a laying position at the same time.

Vekoma has 2 new layouts. One is for Energylandia 2020 and has already started construction, the other has not been officially announced yet.

0:19 - 0:21 in that reel was the best demonstration of the swaying of the SFC trains I've seen.
