To me it looks like a filler. I still think future development of this area is very possible.

If anybody hasn't been there (the Palladium) in awhile, they've put picnic tables in where all the seating was (with some benches around the perimeter).

This definitely sounds like a temporary show to me. They already had the drummers in New France and they don't have to put too many resources into having a vocal trio performing there. The Canadian Palladium is going the way of Le Mans soon is my guess.

I hope so. I posted on the Blog my sentiments about what I hope they do with the area. I never thought that theater was really well designed anyway. The sound system was always sketchy and the poor show is tucked next to a train station and the bathrooms.

Time for New France to move along.

My fingers are still crossed for a complete re-theme of New France (not all that much would need changing).

Saw the country trio show last night. Definite "temporary" feel to it. They played old school 70's country (which I liked), a CCR song, and a Jimmy Buffet song. Don't think the lumberjacks were up and running yet. Maybe today?

I got thinking about re-themeing of New France area and I know the general consensus is more of Switzerland; but I think the better alternative is the French Alps. It is a logical border between France and Germany and would offer the feeling of an Alpen village and make the country of France on the same scale (size-wise) of Germany and Italy which is fitting.

Better yet, they could add a ride and bring back the old name of "glissade" to the mix once again.. resurrect it. I was thinking a smaller scale family ride with a modern spin.

"Le Scoot" would remain LeScoot and having a Log Flume in an Alpen Village would be believable.

Converting the old log buildings to a more European Alps village would be simple (and would be AWESOME for Christmas Town).

The Alpengeist coaster would be the "border" of Germany and France that would be a part of both countries as they share the same mountain range...

Albertville, the site of the 1992 winter Olympics and was once an old medieval town. It would be a great source for themeing!!!!!!!

What do you all think? Sound cool? :D

Yes, yes it does.

This whole area of the park really doesn't have anything for families (until you get down to Land of the Dragons).

These sound like great ideas!

Although I'm not necessarily tired of the New France (Canada) theme actually, but new rides there would be great. What could they rename/re-theme Trappers Smokehouse? Or would that fit anyway with the idea of medieval France?

I agree; the name could stay the same. Remember Beauty and the Beast from Disney and good ol' Gaston? Well that was the French Alps. The little restaurant/ pub in the famous Gaston song had food pretty much like the smokehouse. :-/

good call swift.

I try. :) That area of the park just doesn't have anything to make you want to go back there unless you are going to the train station. It's a great area and I'm glad to see that it will be put to good use again starting next year.

I'll agree but then again I take part of my dad's "old blood" and enjoy sitting under the shade that area offers and basking in the ambient aromas of Trapper's

I never felt that area was lacking. When the Canadium Palladium housed great shows, like American Jukebox, it was one of my favorite areas of the park. It's quaint backwoods atmosphere was perfect with the music, crafts, log flume, train station, and the Palladium. I certainly hope they add some other entertainment in the park to replace the Palladium. Entertainment has been lacking for the past two years, and I hope we don't lose any more shows.
