Glad I went to Muppet Vision when I was there.

But I hate the RRC overlay. Not doing a golden age of cinema for the are is a miss.

Glad the band-aid is off...

I honestly don’t hate the changes. Sounds like they’re still going to try to preserve Muppet Vision in some way too:

Maybe they could somehow incorporate muppetvision into the rock n rollercoaster retheme, with it being part of the line? And after you go through the show, you get to rock out with the muppets? Idk

It seems super obvious that Disney should put a remastered version of Muppet*Vision 3D into Sunset Showcase and integrate it into a new Muppets mini-land in the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster plaza. I assume that would be exactly the plan if it weren't for that Villains thing they just recently announced to replace Racing Academy. Give the Villains show a couple years while you develop a remastered Muppet*Vision 3D and then make the switch. Easy.

The going rumor is the Villains show is essentially a living lab for them to test what they want to do for some things in MK with Villains land and when that is built its gone. At that point I can see them moving Muppet Vision into that theatre.

My initial reaction to this announcement was immediate anger. It has now simmered, like a Sunday roast, and has become deep seeded hatred.

I genuinely cannot think of why this is an appropriate decision as long as Animation Courtyard is in the state it is in. If that is not the very next thing worked on at HS, this move makes no sense. Muppets Courtyard isn't perfect by all means, but it is something, whereas Animation Courtyard is literally nothing.

Also, stop naming areas "X Courtyard"

The reason they cant just do Animation Courtyard is because behind Star Wars launch bay, and in the building itself there are a lot of the park offices that got displaced from when they made Toy Story land and to some extent Galaxy's Edge. They need to figure out what to do with them before they get started on that.

They’re literally draining a river and bulldozing an island to put in a Cars ride — surely they can figure out how to relocate some offices?

I'll miss the Muppets Courtyard too but that entire area is the worse part of the park right now. It is a dead end since the removal of streets of America in favor of Galaxy's Edge and half of the buildings currently in the courtyard have been vacant since covid. Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano is constantly one of the worse reviewed sit restaurants in the park. Progress is not always linear. It is a whole lot easier finding room for relocating the show than finding somewhere else to place a whole new themed area. Now if they relocate the show, that's up to them, and hopefully they will listen to public opinion and find a way to give the show a new home.

I massively disagree with this. My DHS land ranking best to worst right now is...
  1. Galaxy's Edge
  2. Sunset Boulevard
  3. Hollywood Boulevard
  4. Toy Story Land
  5. Grand Avenue
  6. Echo Lake
  7. Pixar Plaza
  8. Animation Courtyard
Grand Avenue has a pleasant, consistent tone, vibe, and visual identity that I think reads very well. Meanwhile, Echo Lake feels incredibly dated and neglected with large, massively underutilized spaces throughout. Pixar Plaza is essentially a backstage alleyway that has been branded in an attempt to justify horrendous park layout decisions from years gone by. Then, Animation Courtyard is just a complete disaster: dated, ugly, unpopular, underutilized, etc.

Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano is constantly one of the worse reviewed sit restaurants in the park.

In a park full of horrible sit-down restaurants, I actually like Mama Melrose considerably more than most of the other ADRs in DHS personally. Not saying it doesn't have a poor reputation, but looking at things comparatively, I definitely think it gets way more hate than it deserves.

I get where you are coming from, and I understand the reasoning for your rankings. My hate for Grand Avenue stems from the awful urban design/layout and the amount of empty space. This is mainly due to the fact that this area was "born" out of Streets of America after most of it was removed. The Area itself looks very nice and coherent. But outside of Muppets, has very little to it. I hate to say it but Galaxy's Edge ruined the longevity of Muppets. This Photo is from 2012 (pre Galaxy's Edge.) I added arrows showing all the ways people would walk through here. It was a heavily trafficked area. With entrances on both sides. The Premiere Theater (Green Roof on the right) was a huge draw, which would discharge a huge crowd of people into the courtyard. There was a meet and greet location (Top of the photo). There was the Christmas store that was open year round call "It's a Wonderful Shop"(Building on the far left). The main shop called "Stage 1 Company Store" sat in the very middle of the area. All of these stores and locations are outlined in red below. These areas have been removed (Due to Galaxy's Edge, or sit vacant). The only attractions left are the areas in green. Muppet*Vision 3D and the two dinning locations. The second photo is the current layout of the courtyard. (I know that Grand Avenue extends to more than just the previous Muppet's Courtyard, but I am focusing on this dead-end and half closed area only). Unless you are coming for food, there is very little reason to travel past Muppet*Vision 3D. I love walking around and looking at the decorations and theming of areas; but for a lot of park goers, the same can't be said. This area has been greatly neutered from what it once. This section was a lively and thoroughly traveled section of the park that still showed the original theme (Golden Age of Hollywood and movie making). The courtyard portion of Grand Avenue is now a dead end full of buildings used for limited timed events. While the 2017 retheme made the area a whole lot more coherent and really made this one of the prettiest parts of the park, the layout is still a mess due to Galaxy's Edge eating into it. There is so much potential for this area if they expand into the backstage and parking lot. I may have felt differently if they still kept key locations open back here. But in the current state, I feel like it is underused and needs redevelopment. I'm hoping that the new little mermaid show coming back to animation courtyard is actually good and will bring some more things to do to that side of the park but who knows. This park is a shell of it's former shelf and solely IP driven now. I hope my reasoning makes sense. It has nothing to do with the theme and everything to do with logistics.

Hopefully when this project moves out of Bluesky, they relocate it to the theater near Rock n Rollercoaster. The theater will be debuting a villains show soon but I can see them placing the show in there as this project is still years away. Turning the Rock N Rollercoaster plaza into the new Muppets area could be a real possibility. It sound's like the show isn't completely toast. The family quote says "As we learn of the show’s upcoming closure in its current form at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , we look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act". I hope that this means the show will survive in the parks and not just a recording reproduced for Disney plus. I love the attraction and it is a must do whenever I am at the park and I would hope they can relocate it where it can still receive the love the public has from it. My statement about the courtyard is strictly from a civil design and urban layout planning.
