From Behind the Thrills:
During a press conference today, Ocean Breeze Waterpark announced details of a 2011 multi-million dollar face lift and expansion for the park. They will be giving the entire park a face lift to incorporate Caribbean theming, as well as adding a brand new slide complex, Neptune’s Revenge, and expanding their children’s section, Hook’s Lagoon, of the waterpark. This is slated to be completed by park opening on May 27th.

Honestly, in my opinion, Ocean Breeze just topped Water Country's 2011 plans. I'll probably be making a trip over to the south-side sometime this year to check them out. The ball is back in your court SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.

This was in the Virginian Pilot yesterday morning. Same information as above, but just added pictures and a few details. I've never been in my life(which is sad because I've lived twenty minutes from it for seventeen years), but I'M ALL ABOUT IT, for the main reason that this is the first smack in the face to WCUSA in probably decades. Until now, competition was not really a problem. Now, quite frankly, they have a better theme, more updated rides, and cheaper prices. And not to be Debbie Downer, but Vantage Point is simply Jammin' Jukebox, just with a new way of dropping into the slide, nothing original. Also, the title and theming has nothing to do with the 50's and 60's. In other words, I cannot wait to see how WCUSA fights back, because right now, WCUSA is starting to drown in their own deep end, and I don't think they saw this coming since all of this just occurred less than three months ago.

Has anyone been by Ocean Breeze lately to see what's going on or if there's anything to be seen? From what I hear, we don't even know where these slides are going.

They are replacing the 4 mat slides on the front hill.

I went on August 20, and they had opened the slides, which are collectively called 'Neptune's Revenge'. Two slides (The purple and yellow one, and the green and orange one) have 3 sideways cone portions. They don't go very fast, and aren't that exciting. The purple one is 'Trident', the green one is 'Earth Shaker' The black-and-white one is named 'Sea Serpent' and is dark with small lights. It doesn't have anything special about it. The final one is 'Vortex' and is the most exciting. You start out slow, but then drop about 30ft into a bowl. You go around 2 or 3 times, then drop down. All of these are single-tube, with all but vortex allowing double tube. They are easily visible from the front, right behind Hugh. Also new is retheming of the kids area. The also added a hyper-overpriced slush factory.

However, the park is still a slimehole. (Ala KD)
