I just realized there wasn't a thread for Military Days at Kings Dominion! Since I happened to visit yesterday (July 4th), I have to say, I was blown away with how Kings Dominion showed their appreciation for those who have served our country. There were American flags, banners, and signs everywhere (especially International Street. It was very powerful!), army trucks by the Eiffel Tower, and a very talented Navy band performing on the Grande Bandstand on International Street.
What really got me, though, was that at noon on July 4th, an announcement was made that there would be a moment of silence out of respect for our troops in celebration of the 4th of July. With that, all of the rides stopped so even the cast members could observe the moment of silence as well. After the moment of silence, the Star Spangled Banner played throughout the park, and everyone was silent (I was surprised at how everybody was willing to observe this moment of silence, with a few exceptions... Let me just say that yelling, "GO MEET ME BY GRIZZLY!" in the middle of the national anthem should be a no-no...anyway...).
I was truly amazed at how spectacularly Kings Dominion showed how grateful we are for all that our troops do for our country.
