The newest I'm hearing for Marineland, is that there will be an extended closure while they remove the animals and attempt to reopen as an amusement park. This is probably the best possible outcome for Dragon Mountain enthusiasts. Of course there is the very real risk that the project is never finised and the park never reopens. I think most of us are surprised it lasted as long as it has.

The only "consistent" rumor I've heard is that Herschend expressed interest in the property, and had reps visit the park multiple times in recent years. I've also heard rumors about Hershey, Hard Rock, and other companies checking out the property.

The fact any possible acquisition has happened in secret suggests, to me, that (IF Marineland has actually been purchased) it was purchased by a privately owned company. Otherwise, wouldn't we have heard about some major unaccounted-for spending in someone's investor calls?

Definitely valid points. That said I am not sure what the disclosure requirements are for companies incorporated in Canada or other countries are. I would assume that they are similar to the US but it's possible if this is a non US company that there might not be a requirement to disclose as of yet.

If Herschend was involved in this park, it would be absolutely amazing. They are the gold standard of theme park management and this park is in an excellent location with huge potential.

Almost gold standard

Dollywood is phenomenal and one of my favorite parks in the world. Kentucky Kingdom on the other hand, is the worst park I've ever been to. I'm really hoping the $25 million they're investing into the park goes to the park itself because it needs a LOT of work

They also have only operated the park for two and a half years. They also are only the operating partner not the owners which gives them some extra hoops to jump through so I think it's way to early to judge them on Kentucky kingdom progress one way or the other.

I mean I've also been to Wild Adventures and that's not exactly the greatest park out there either. Definitely nowhere near as good as Dollywood.

Yeah not to dis any other Herschend but I will say for the record that most people significantly under estimate the roll and involvement that Dolly and her management team play in Dollywood operations and atmosphere. It's certainly huge and is a large part of why the park runs the way it does. But zi have also heard good things about Silver Dollar City which is an all Herschend operation.

Wild Adventures is not a major destination. Barring decades of investment, it was never going to/will never become become the next DW or SDC.

I don't expect it to be on the level of Dolly or SDC but it would be nice if they got some investment. The potential is there because its halfway between Central Florida and Atlanta. People could use it as an easy pit stop between the 2.

A signature attraction would be great.

KK and WI have their limits given their locations.

Marineland however could be a major destination given both that is is located in a tourist destination already, and it is very close to the huge population of Toronto. It will take a LOT of capital to get that park to be a destination. But the potential is there unlike KK and WI

The end appears to tragically be here for the park and it's rides.
