I'm going to have to side with Party Rocker on this one. No matter what people choose to bring to a theme park, at least be considerate of others and don't leave your crap on the floor for people to trip over, especially that close to a VERY large and dangerous piece of machinery.

The main reason I see ANY loose articles as a problem is that people can trip and hurt themselves and then who get blamed? The park does. We live in a sue-happy country where people are willing to sue any company over any little mistake whether it be their fault or not. So personal injury for one.
Other reasons like theft. You would be pretty mad if someone stole your flip flops because they liked them better and were just sitting there. Once again, someone gets angry that their stuff was stolen, who gets blamed? The park does. So theft for second.
Rules have been created for reasons, check out the lady who sued over her coffee being hot. Now every coffee cup says Caution: Hot Coffee, liquids, or contents. If there is a rule in place it is probably because some idiot did something stupid to give good reason or concern for said rule; you know like the park protecting itself from liability for one.

That's why the park should provide an area for the stuff. The answer isn't charging me cash to ride your ride because I'm carrying a camera. That's just BS.

KD has had bins and i've only had 1 case where my friends bag was mistakenly taken. It had his phone, wallet, and everything he brought in it. I was able to continuously call his phone and we ended up switching the bags and all of the money and the phone along with the other items were in the bag. All you need is a sign that the park is not responsible for lost or damaged items and boom all your problems of someone suing the park is gone because it was stated they're not taking the responsibility of guarding your items. KD has had an excellent record of crime in park. Just look around at all the huge bananas or gorillas that any little kid would love. Those don't get taken by "mistake" by some dad who can't win the games.

This is a valid point, but that's why the exit platform should have bins.

You've sort of failed to realise that there are infinite different ways to deal with bags at parks. We're only disagreeing with te fact that charging guests extra is not cool. You've not really shared your opinion on that? Wouldn't you rather they'd provided something like Merlin parks, or had free lockers?

Other reasons like theft. You would be pretty mad if someone stole your flip flops because they liked them better and were just sitting there. Once again, someone gets angry that their stuff was stolen, who gets blamed? The park does. So theft for second.
The park wouldn't get the blame, because items are left at people's own risk.

Plus, who the hell steals flip flops? Just, no. Are you even thinking about this properly?

I've never had anything stolen at a park, and yet I live in a country where petty crime is far higher than the US and have taken bags which are obviously camera bags... Though, I've stopped that, for fear of theft. At a park like Busch, it's so unlikely. Six Flags? Yeah, maybe. Family park? Chance is so minute it's not even worth discussing.

Rules have been created for reasons, check out the lady who sued over her coffee being hot.
If you want to take this road of argument, then an amusement park shouldn't exist at all for fear of being sued.

Stop being so bloody daft.

Amen HAJiME!! I have a pack that I carry because I have 3 kids and one has asthma! Sunscreen, medication, phones, there are essentials needed that the park cannot provide for me. I have a dry pack, so the bag can get soaked, but nothing inside, and they let me take it on Pompeii, Roman Rapids and Log Flume without problem. The only ride where they have enforced the bag rule on me was Verbolten. They are not going to stop people from bringing bags on the rides. Have cubby holes lined up per train, like for verbolten have them color coded, other rides, do it train number and have an attendant pay attention to what is being taken, but it would still be at your risk.

I think what I initially meant to say came out wrong...

All they need to do on Griffon, and any coasters with lockers world wide where you pay for them, is make the lockers free. Its really that simple. If they did this (as well as all Six Flags parks) I would be happy as a clam. I do not mind having to put my things in a locker at the coasters, actually I prefer this. Its the thought of paying for it, that is the only thing I do not like about the policy.

They could add say about $1-2 per ticket to get in. This could cover the lockers. Some argue not everyone uses them. But I do not see all the shows in a park so should I pay a smaller amount because I don't?

Not all parks enforce you to sit on your flip flops. So this is a park issue and not the guest. I know La Ronde MAKES you sit on your flip flops on Vampire - you absolutely can not leave them on the side. To me though they are playing devils advocate because there is a tiny possibility that shoe could come flying out and hit someone. And with the way the court system is these days the person that got hit would get A LOT of money.

You guys wanna talk about flip flops? I can't be the only person to have lost flip flops at Water Country. When I got off the ride there was a similar pair of flip flops but they were not mine and mine were gone. Who takes someone's flip flops?

Since they were similar someone might have taken yours thinking they were their own.

That is why I do not wear flip flops in a water park from ride to ride. Sure, the ground hurts my feet but I get over it. Toughing it out won't hurt no one. Also a lot of parks will let you hold your shoes in your lap if its a tube slide.

I'm thinking about wearing a fanny pack to the park this Saturday for it's stylish looks and convenience of holding my phone as well as other various items. Will this be considered a loose article and be forced to reside in a locker, or will I be able to ride on?

Fanny packs are also not allowed on Intimidator 305, the only way I’ve seen them on the ride is if the ride operator doesn’t notice.
