So it seems Canada's Wonderland has started construction on the yet to be announced ride. Land has been cleared and footers have been poured. Rumors abound on the internet have this ride possibly being a Intamin Giga (a label was found that had the word "giga" on it). I'd be very shocked if it was something like I305 as they already have Behemoth.
RE: 2012 Attraction

They probably put the sticker on there to get some rumors out there. I haven't really heard anything about this other than they're getting a new steel coaster.
RE: 2012 Attraction

Im sure it is to get rummors going. Carowinds had markers up that said "HUSS GF" on them, than they were mysteriously gone, than they had markers that said "GCI" now thos are gone. I am sure this is probably something like that. Like you said with Behemoth, I would doubt something like I305 also.

There's a new teaser on CW's official site

RE: 2012 Attraction

B&M pieces have shown up on site. So much for this being an Intamin Giga!
RE: 2012 Attraction

Maybe the first B&M giga? It'll probably be a Raptor clone like the one at Cedar Point because Lance said someone hacked the site and pieced together that name...

Could be anything, though. We have our choices from:
-hyper (although one has been built)
-flyer (does any cedar fair park have a B&M flyer?)
-dive machine
-stand-up (although doubtful)
-sit-down (Kumba clone, anyone?)
-wing-rider (hahahaha, makes me wonder what Cedar Fair is on to think of trying that)
RE: 2012 Attraction

DUDE! I was gunna mention a B&M giga coaster in the 2014 Coaster thread but I was afraid people were gunna be all like " Are you stupid?" lol. But a dive coaster would be cool, they look amazing! I would like a giga dive machine.......................:D
RE: 2012 Attraction

Its gonna be atleast 300 ft tall, be built in Canada by B&M, have a chain lift, and hopefully will be a sit down and not a stand up ;) [/sarcasm] I second on the dets.
RE: 2012 Attraction

This is getting interesting. Coaster parts labeled "giga" on them are at the park.

Also, someone on CWMania just posted some artwork of the ride. It looks like it could very well be a Giga with ovebanked turns.

Check this out...

RE: 2012 Attraction

Oh my god. This might actually be it. This might actually be that breakthrough we've been waiting for! B&M is going to make the most over-engineered piece of shit in the history of roller coasters!!!

All joking aside, that track looks exceptionally thick. Probably because of the height but Giovanola built IDENTICAL track and they built to like 255 feet.
RE: 2012 Attraction

It's Official!

Vaughan, ON (August 18, 2011) - In 2012, Canada’s Wonderland will unveil one of the biggest and tallest roller coasters in the world: Leviathan. When the Park opens in May 2012, Leviathan will dominate the Park’s landscape, taking riders to breathtaking heights and speeds never experienced before at Wonderland.

The excitement begins on Leviathan’s first lift hill as riders climb to a record breaking height of 306 feet (93.3M) followed by an exhilarating 80 degree drop. Reaching a top speed of 148 kilometers per hour, riders will experience extreme coaster thrills on 5,486 feet (1,672M) of track that includes a series of giant camelback hills reaching heights up to 180 feet (54.9M), and an astonishing overbanked hammerhead turn at 115 degrees that will cross above the Park’s front gate at 147 feet (44.8M) high.

“Leviathan will be our 16th coaster and now positions Canada’s Wonderland as one of the top three coaster destinations in the world.” said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice President and General Manager, Canada’s Wonderland. “We will go higher, longer, and faster than ever before when we launch Leviathan in 2012. With the addition of this new coaster and our diverse collection of rides, shows and attractions, we continue to show why Canada’s Wonderland is the destination of choice for those seeking world class thrills and family entertainment."

Leviathan is designed and manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, of Monthey, Switzerland. The highly recognized industry leader in roller coaster development also constructed Behemoth, which premiered at Canada’s Wonderland in May 2008.

Construction is well underway at the park, with a completion date of May 2012. Guests who would like to experience Leviathan before the Park opens next year can visit to view ride renderings, specifications, construction updates, and experience a virtual ride simulation.

Well I'd like to say congrats to B&M for FINALLY hitting the 300-ft barrier. It's long over due.

That said, I'm not impressed with this ride. I will go up there and ride it but to me it looks like a drawn out version of Behemoth.
Same exact thoughts, awesome B&M is breaching their usual territory... but im not impressed with the layout at all. It's just big for no reason.
It's a more exciting layout to me than say, one nice drop and a bunch of ground-hugging, neck-snapping, greyout-inducing turns. This looks to have everything I love in a steel coaster, big, fast, smooth, aaaaaand fast. I loved Behemoth and this looks like a great way to add a similar-sized coaster with a totally different feel.

Also, fast.
My thoughts are the same a Robbie's, but I can't help but wonder one thing: Where is the MCBR? Isn't this the first B&M Hyper-style coaster without one?

Also, thank you Canada's Wonderland/B&M for picking the old-style hyper trains instead of those ridiculous new ones.
Watching this make me wish Intimidator 305 was a B&M. :( Swiftman, your right there is no MCBR. It goes through the course so fast that a MCBR would just be stupid. BTW did anyone notice how tall some of the footers where?

Goliath at La Ronde and Goliath at SFoG don't have MCBRs.

Well, those seem to be "smaller" Hypers. There seems to be only some on the bigger Hypers.

This is not needed for the park. At all. They already have Behemoth and Windseeker, and now they're getting this..? Pointless. On the other hand, it seems like a very fun ride, and I very much want to ride it.

Hollywood Dream at Universal Studios Japan has an MCBR and is the smallest B&M Mega Coaster on the planet.
