TL;DR - The family that owns the Lego Company is teaming up with Blackstone and another company to buy the remaining shares in Merlin Entertainment. Merlin is in charge of the operations for the Legoland parks, along with multiple other amusement parks in Europe, and a few other attractions located around the world like Madame Tussauds and the London Eye.

It's interesting that this is happening considering (just like SeaWorld Parks) Merlin was owned by Blackstone before going public 2013.

I have a hunch that this purchase was fueled mostly by the LEGO family wanting more control over the brand than they did with Merlin being publicly traded. They've held shares of Merlin since the LegoLand parks merged with Merlin in 2005, but I'm going to guess that that was not enough.

You know it took a second for me to think "Oh yeah England" when I saw six million pounds. I thought Lego was ranting about childhood obesity or something for a second.

Yeah that's how my Monday night is going. Don't judge.
