The La Cucina resturant in Festa Italia next to Roman Rapids is being converted into a $9.99 for adults, $6.99 for kids Pizza and Pasta Buffet. Do you think this will increase business? Will you eat there?

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ate at the one @ BGT. AMAZING! Free soda too. The Alfredo is amazing, and all the rest. I wonder where they're putting the seating tho....

This is the most exciting news I've heard since vanish point...

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

I will always eat at a buffet! Wow, Busch Gardens and an affordable buffet to eat at inside, that's good to hear. I was always underwhelmed by the food quality at La Cucina, so I'm not at all disappointed. As to whether or not business will be affected, I don't know, but they will definitely gain some business from me that they would not have had before.

First off, welcome Glissade!

Secondly, this might very well be the best addition/change to the park for 2011. This is the greatest thing ever. I seriously hated the place before, but now that it's a buffet? It may become my new favorite place to eat. Seriously, this is amazing news.

There are limited tables in that area. I wonder where they will seat everyone.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

They should be ok on seating. They did a buffet at the Bistro in France for a good part of last year and that's a much smaller seating area. Never seemed to be an issue though.

Is that coming back this year?

It sounds like it's going to be used for the Illuminights Dinner Buffet (see the Dining page on BGW's site). I don't know whether it'll be open the rest of the day or not.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

The place in Tampa was busy, on a slow Feb. 11 @ 66 degrees. Also, last I checked the buffet in France was 30 bucks(according to Swift it was changed to about 10).

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

I clearly remember seeing a sign outside of the place that said $9.99 Buffet with free drinks. Maybe it was a short term thing or whatever, but it was definably there.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

Oh, I'm kinda sorry actually. We had gravitated toward eating there a lot the last few years for the small pizzas and the wraps, rather than going for the big, heavy meals at Festhaus and Trappers. But I really like sitting in that area and queuing up for the "Splashus Minimus" squirt guns. I do hope they keep the buffet cleaner and the food fresher than the Bistro 205 one had gotten to be. I liked Bistro 205 better when it was the more upscale option -- best experience ever at the park was probably the Griffon breakfast there the year the coaster debuted.

If the pizza and pasta are good and they keep everything fresh, that would be nice. La Cucina was something of a hidden gem for us, though -- wonder if this will increase the crowd there.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

It's a good deal, but I wouldn't fret that it would have some major impact on that area. Festhaus, Trappers, and della Piazza will still be the biggies when it comes to food. I mean, the Bistro buffet is in a heavy traffic area and it was still reasonably accessible. La Cucina is in the armpit of the park. It will get more traffic for sure, but I don't think people are going to bum rush the area due to it. People still will prefer dinner and a show.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

^ "armpit of the park" lol -- good description. You're right, not like the Bistro 205 area is swamped. If the line speed at La Cuc improves, that will be a plus, it was frequently very slow if folks ordered a flavor of pizza that had to be cooked.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

I'm in the minority, but I think this is disappointing news. It used to be a great place for a pizza or sandwich, and with a refillable drink cup, it was reasonably priced. Now you are forced to pay a higher price for much more food than I could ever eat including a drink that I could get elsewhere with my refill mug. You will have to pay per person to enter, so if you are having a light meal, sharing with friends, or not everyone is eating, you cannot sit together and enjoy the time. That's the problem I find with the similar venue at BGT. Everyone must pay $10 to enter which doesn't often work with my group, so it's not an option and we eat elsewhere.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

^Well, at least it's not a minority of one! Similar feelings here -- this was a favorite quiet place in the park that, at least while enjoying publicity from the changeover, is not likely to be quite so quiet and relaxing anymore. It was so nice to sit there and listen to water from Roman Rapids and see the boats go by -- or squirt the boats with the Splashus Minimus guns, as I said before.

On another theme park forum, I once started a thread on "hidden" places in the park, and this was one, also the area where the cabanas were placed last year (which were lovely gardens promoting the National Wildlife Fund backyard wildlife habitat program, now greatly reduced in size due to the cabanas -- major fail as far as I'm concerned), the "heartbreak hill" shortcut across the boat docks as a way to cut from Germany back to Scotland (I love to sit down there at the base of Nessie's loops and watch the trains go by), and others. All quiet places disappearing with time, of course.

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

The thought of everyone in my group having to buy a meal isn't something I thought of. That could be a major drawback. I wonder how this is going to work with the Roman Rapids water shooters- how are they going to leave the area open for non-paying customers without having the whole area open to the pubic. It shall be interesting...

RE: La Cucina Now $9.99 Buffet

1. You can eat together. If you want to go in and not eat, they'll give you a wristband and you can just chill.

2. You don't have to take that much food. Take what you want. And honestly, it's not that much more than a $7 pizza and a $1 drink. Not to mention the dessert.

3. It's not like you can't still get the food anymore. They sell many of the products at several other places throughout the park.

4. I understand it might be a little less quiet, but I'm sure that there will be a quiet seat somewhere around there on a reasonable slow day.

I totally forgot about the addition of the cabanas, and I couldn't agree more. They ruined a beautiful tranquil garden area that was fun to explore and escape the commotion while adding cabanas that are totally underutilized. I never saw one being used on my multi-day visit last August.

Will you be aloud to leave and come back at different times of the day without paying again?
