Kumba's Roar

This ride is so FUN!! I really wish BGW waited a year or two for a B&M coaster, if they did, it would still be there. I love all the elements and the loop around the chain lift. The only thing I don't like is the roaring sound. I know it goes along with the theme, but while waiting for the train at the station next to Kumba, you start to lose your hearing.

That's basically every non-sand filled B&M summed up right there. The roar is to B&M like what Apple Pie and Baseball is to the US.

^ I may be wrong, but I believe that the roar feature is an intentional thing attached to the car. Again, I may be wrong,so if someone could verify, that would be great!

It's not an intentional thing attached to the car, all B&Ms without sand filled supports and track sound like that.

Regardless of whether the roaring sound was intrinsic to the design or added for this specific coaster, the park certainly highlights it as part of the theming.

Well, considering "Kumba" actually translates to "Roar," that makes sense! Source

I recently visited Dorney Park, with all of their sand-filled B&M's, and I must say, the lack of that trademark "roaring" sound really takes away from some of that powerful "wow" feeling B&M's are known for.
