They did have lost world posters up in the X-pedition area for almost a year now though.

Would be funny if they actually brought these back and had the hint in our face the whole time.

I could see a Mack Power splash as a spiritual successor to the haunted river water ride, maybe a Nebulaz in place of the rotor... But would anyone want to ride the replacement for the Doozies/Smurfs?

Why not? Classic dark rides are great.

I was thinking more about the kiddie part of the original attractions - slow mine train with show scenes generally for younger audiences.

They already have a good Sally shooter around the corner, and a pretty expansive PS area for younger guests, so I guess the question is what sort of dark ride would they install given CF's seeming avoidance of another Wonder Mountain kind of ride and I doubt they'd get the funding for something of DK's immersion?

I wasn't implying classic dark rides are only for kids, but more stating that the Land of Dooz and subsequent Smurf Mountain overlay seemed to be more geared towards that audience over older crowds based on various descriptions I've seen (including Dale Brumfield's), even though practically anyone could ride.

In current times, I don't think they'd want to pigeonhole a dark ride as being geared for younger guests, nor does another shooter ride make much sense. CF seems to not be interested in another coaster/dark ride hybrid after building Wonder Mountain's Guardian... And it seems unlikely the park will get the budget needed to build a new dark ride at DK levels of immersion or better.

Therefore, I'd be curious as to what kind of dark ride they would place in JX (or the park in general given a somewhat small one could go in the old Action Theater).

However, none of that is to say they won't or that they shouldn't - I think a dark ride would be a good addition in general, especially for winter operations.

I always have a feeling that whatever replaces Boo Blasters will be part of Jungle X. The show building's visible from and right next to the area. I do like how it's hidden from view when by the entrance in Planet Snoopy, like a Disney dark ride would be.

Yeah, I wouldn't think there's any reason to suspect any JX plans related to Boo Blasters, or that it's going away anytime soon (unless anyone knows if it's on its last legs maintenance-wise, which would be hard to believe since AFAIK Sally is still around and able to provide parts/programming).

Well, I rode it a few years ago and I thought it was an old ride. Some stuff didn't work and the scoring was super sketchy. Some light guns were much more functional than others. Wasn't a fair competition. It was still fun enough, but we didn't ever do it again.

I think much of that was addressed in the Boo Blasters thread, but it sounded like they did some refurbishment work in the last few seasons so it should be more or less ok.

Don't mind it.

Personally I just don't have high hopes. They started that great CAG work back by TT, and I feel like the rest of CAG just got a few small things after that huge overhaul. That just leaves a big disappointing last in my mouth.

I don’t think KD ever claimed the overhaul of that part of CAG was part of a larger overhaul of the rest of the area. But KD has repeatedly made clear that Jungle X is a multi-year project, so the comparison to CAG isn’t remotely relevant in my opinion.

To me whether they claimed it or not doesn’t matter. IMO CF has a history of starting stuff like this and not finishing the full way.

Do I 100% believe they won’t do more with Jungle X? No.

Am I skeptical since this was about the time they announced things last year and they are now year round? Yes.

Personally, I think a few updated eatery menus and Grizzly’s rework is it for 2023. And for 2024, I personally would rather see something happen with Volcano’s plot that retheming areas. So that’s 2025 at the earliest that gets done.
