Whatever they do back there, (and I'm sure this is impractical and would look terrible if executed poorly, but) I'd love to see them do something to make the FoF building not so visible. For the sides facing JX, maybe paint trees onto those sides?

or add some rockwork & jungle-y set pieces to the sides? Similar concept to Uncharted at Portaventura:
Obras-de-la-nueva-atraccion-Uncharted-2023-de-PortAventura-en-abril-de-2023.jpeg

I mean, pull a Disney and put forced perspective buildings in the way of the most obvious sightlines, then paint the building go-away green or blue as it makes sense.

Personally I think Virginia needs a modern dark ride, which with the Jungle X lore, could be extraordinary.

I've been saying this for a while. KD has more than enough space to do it, but Cedar Fair generally doesn't do dark rides. Both Hershey Park and Bush Gardens Williamsburg have them. However, it would be hard to do with Flight of fear sitting in between I305 and Volcano's old spot. If they were to do one, I'd want them to do it better than BGW's Verbolten. I stated last year that Stunt Coaster and Anaconda make a good plot of land for a decent sized half indoor/outdoor attraction. Something involving Dinosaurs is probably the most expected if Cedar Fair were to attempt the indoor ride theme.

However, I also mentioned last night that the other side of the park would be a decent fit. When it comes to indoor themes, stars is the limit. We were introduced to a mysterious force in Hanover Hills Orchard's Twisted Timbers. What other mysterious forces are in that area? Let's use the term "curse". BGW has used both cars and snowmobiles for indoor themes. Who's to say that KD couldn't attempt a deeper dive into the cursed Hanover Hills Orchard and create another half indoor/outdoor attraction? There is a lot of land that sits near Grizzly and beyond. Let's also take time to consider that an addition like this would easily expand the WinterFest coaster line-up.

I should note, Kings Dominion does actually have a dark ride as rare as that is nowadays. It's just offensively hidden away from the main pathways.

Also I should point out it seems like at the moment we are getting wildly speculative and broad with wishes and desires for the park. There are other threads for the certain topic areas in the concepts and rumors sections. This thread is mostly focused on Jungle X Phase II which as far as rumors go at the moment likely have something to do with the eagle and panther animal symbols, current speculation is rethemes of existing attractions and we are still drawing a blank on the Volcano replacement.

Backlot has a dark section. Personally I think that plus Flight of Fear is enough dark rides or partial dark rides for KD, though yes FoF needs a revamp. Also I really like Backlot. It's underrated. Just retheme it to fit with Jungle X-Pedition.

I’ve thought it was would be a decent idea to make it look like the jungle took over the backlot area, with lots of overgrown vines. Then, just add in a variety of jungle creatures and such. Wouldn’t be too crazy hard, to be honest.

If we're talking about additional theme being added to rides, I'd say Flight of Fear would be worth the bang for the buck. Would it be too much trouble for them to fog certain parts of the ride course? I know parks generally hate dealing with it, but if done right, it would work well. I know comparing KD to Universal is like comparing apples and steak. But how do fog systems generally work for rides? I'd assume there is a computer that tells the fog machine when the train is close. For Flight of Fear, it would be cool to fog at least half the launch tunnel. Then maybe the tight turns that occur towards the end of the ride.

BGW seems to be pretty good with creating convincing storm effects. Let's just take electricity for Flight of Fear. If this unknown alien outpost is accessed via portal technology, it would make sense that there is some sort of electricity involved. Maybe getting close to the end of the course, there is a lightning effect that indicates that your chances of escape of closing. The park could easily do this. This is stuff that can be easily done and give the ride a much more intense experience. If Flight of Fear had these cool effects, I'd probably start visiting KD again, rather than praising how great Verbolten is.

I agree, that the queue area could use to sort of jungle military outpost theme. I still miss the green lights that they used for Outbreak Evolution's outdoor queue. Just make those lights permanent for night time effects. As for the indoor queue area, I really enjoy the dimly lit environment with a few red lights here and there.

One idea that crossed my brain the other day.............if only that damn service road wasn't behind Tumbili blocking off Boo Blasters from Jungle X. Imagine retheming Boo Blasters to Jungle X and moving the entrance from Planet Snoopy to Jungle X. Never happening due to the Tumbili service road but still man that would be a fun idea, they could do what SFFT did with their Scooby Doo dark ride where they turned it into a pirate adventure, just a Jungle X version.

Had no idea SFFT’s pirates dark ride used to be Scooby Doo too. It was easily one of the best Sally dark rides I’ve ridden — great sets, props, and effects. The queue was also wonderfully themed too. I love Boo Blasters, but retheming it to fit Jungle X would be awesome. They could just move the entrance down next to Outpost and have it snake its way toward the existing queue, bypassing the service road.

Was the existing queue for Boo Blasters (Scooby Doo) there because it was convenient for the kids area, or because it didn't fit to put it between The Crypt and Avalanche's queues?

If it was because of proximity to the kids area (Planet Snoopy), then chances are there's no desire to relocate the queue - not that the chances are much higher otherwise considering it'd be costly for minimal impact.

Considering a Volcano replacement, it would be cool to partner with Intamin. Seems like Intamin has been making their name known again with all these new multi-launch coaster installations. Even BGW used Intamin for both Pantheon and DarKoaster. It seems as if Volcano's spot could fit a decent sized Intamin multi-launch coaster that could perhaps give Pantheon a run for it's money. But will KD do what they've always done and take a more exclusive route?

Thoughts?
im sure this is not missed on anybody, and this comment is far from helpful, but an Intamin Launch Coaster with a huge centerpiece like a mountain or volcano or something would look great in the Jungle Xpedition area.
it would be cool if the replacement worked in a story line that talked about a volcano eruption, at least try to tie in the existence of Volcano to the area. still just a shame that they removed a park icon and then themed the area around it

I feel like this thread goes like:

1. Somebody posts about what they want in the Volcano plot, something it doesn't appear likely Cedar Fair would consider based on precedent, usually an Intamin coaster or an S&S Axis or essentially a new Volcano.
2. Somebody replies explaining all the reasons why it's not going to be that specific model based on the aforementioned reasons.
3. Somebody brings up stuff they think KD needs over a new roller coaster in general.
4. Somebody posts to bring the thread back to Jungle X Phase II based on the rumors we have.
5. Repeat Step 1.

*pokes KD..........come on.......leak something........KD: "all our holes are patched there buddy you get to wait......more!"

Random guy feeling that’s bound to be incredibly unpopular - I think they’re not leaking anything out there because a coaster isn’t going in.

The two season 40th Anniversary Celebration began at Kings Dominion in 2014. I wonder if the 50th Anniversary will be a two season celebration as well and begin next year in 2024?

Cedar Fair hasn't really lined up major capital projects with major park anniversaries recently, however I could see this happening at Kings Dominion.

As for the replacement, unfortunately I don't see $25-$30+ million being dropped on the eventual Volcano replacement. I've been saying for years now that an affordable and realistic replacement could be a Gerstlaur Infinity Coaster, similar to Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm, and flat ride(s). Hangtime is the same height as Volcano was, which would be a nice replacement to that side of the park's skyline, and could include unique features such as a beyond vertical drop and themed tunnel. I could see these 2-3 attractions being nestled into a Jungle X-pedition landscape behind the old Volcano queue house/gift shop building with themed rocks (such as the two left over from the Volcano structure) and lush vegetation blocking most of the view of the Flight of Fear building.

I also think a solid infinity coaster is great for that location. Only concern about that route is still we’ve only seen Cedar Fair build one of them like Copperhead Strike with Mack.

For me, I have kept away from pushing a new coaster for The Lost World / Volcano spot. I still think there is a reasonable chance there could be a replacement mountain of some type/scope.

What would be in the mountain and/or around it? A new coaster, a dark ride, a flat ride package, or some combination of the above?

TBD
