Kings Dominion will be sponsoring a coaster enthusiast family and friends event commemorating 40 years of operation.

A few details:

• When? Saturday May 10th
• ERT (Exclusive Ride Time) on Intimidator 305 plus another ride that will be voted upon on May 10th.
• Cocktail Hour (21 and up) (Outer Hanks)
• Various Games
• Dinner featuring carving stations, build your own side dish and more (Outer Hanks)
• Dancing with a live band
• Full Birthday theme with hats, presents, "surprise gifts", and more

Tentative Schedule for the Day (subject to change)

• 12:00 p.m: Registration and Welcome (Under the Eiffel Tower)
• 12:30 - 5:30pm: Free time in the park, which will include One Ride Exit Pass per person on two of the following five rides:
  • Intimidator 305
  • Volcano: The Blast Coaster
  • Dominator
  • Grizzly
  • Flying Eagles
• 6:00 - 7:00pm: Cocktail hour with Games, Snacks, PEANUTS character appearances (Outer Hanks)
• 7:00 - 8:00pm: Dinner featuring carving stations, build your own side dish and more (Outer Hanks)
• 8:00 - 10:00pm: Dancing with a Live Band
• 10:15 - 11:00pm: ERT on Intimidator 305

Pricing

• $31.58 (Tax Included) for Silver, Gold, and Cedar Fair Platinum pass holders. (This includes day admission as well as the Birthday Bash events)
• $64.58 (Tax Included) for non-Season Pass holders. (This includes day admission as well as the Birthday Bash events)
• Participant's 21 years of age or older will be given two free drink tickets, to be used during the Cocktail Hour prior to dinner. Non-alcoholic drinks will also be served during this time. Additional drink tickets can be purchased on the day of the event.

Is this a park sponsored event or is it KDFans holding a special thing?

I'm curious as well. I've heard a couple snippets from different fan sites alluding to an event happening. So far, I have not seen anything "official" from the park concerning a 40th anniversary event.

It's an official park event from what I understand. I believe Evan and Gene spoke about it.

Yup it is park sponsored. They are actually not letting coaster events at the park it seems since they are hosting their own. When I talked with Gene, not much was set in stone at the time but everything above is from one of the latest emails that I received.

Gene also just announced it at a coaster con event last night which is really why I posted it finally.

EDIT: Looked more into it and others (Ace, TPR, ect.) can have an event, but they are not allowed to have any ERT in their event.

The price is actually reasonable considering you are getting 2 free cocktails drinks (if you're over 21), dinner, get to go to some sort of dance, ERT, and end of line passes for a few rides.

How old do you have to be to go alone? Because I'm 14 and I would be the only one going

As far as I'm concerned, if you can buy your ticket, then you can go. Just like a regular visit (though, those under a certain age (12?) should be supervised). Being under 21, you will not be allowed to be served alcoholic beverages of course.

The new PR manager, Katelyn Sherwood, emailed everyone who has purchased a ticket for the b-day bash notifying them that they can receive discounted fast lane or fast lane plus passes for May 10th only. You must email her back to get these tickets. There is more information in the email that you received.

I wish I would have known there was a cut off date! Went to buy my friend's ticket today She wasn't sure she was going to be able to attend until last night. I called KD this morning to ask if there was anyway to buy another ticket and was told no (N)

The Birthday Bash was really cool. Food was decent and the freebies were very nice. I hope they do more of these events (like for Haunt, hint hint nudge nudge).
