Defunct Flat Ride Jamestown Landing

Mark H. shared these pictures of Jamestown Landing in the Kings Dominion Historians group on Facebook. I don't think I've ever seen any photos of this ride before.




Christopher S. also added this photo in the comments, which shows something really bizarre about this ride: the boats landed and completely rested on the ground in between cycles, rather than staying suspended like most flying scooters or swing rides. So bizarre.

That is KD's former Jamestown Landing ride. Wild World, (Park name before Six Flags bought it and renamed it SFA), purchased the ride from KD in 84 or 85.

It was an internal transaction either directly between the 2 parks or KD might have used a 3rd party amusement ride broker to sell to them (not sure if there were many of those types of businesses back then). There are some on The KD Historians Facebook site that give reference to that. I'm pretty sure you are not going to find the original bill of sale though.
