RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

Elmo Jack strikes again. So far this is my only qualm with HOS. If they dont deliver this year after all the "NOT FOR KIDS AFTER 6pm" they've been doing on all the local talk shows and on their websites and on all the video releases... I'll be one disappointed dude.

RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

it's a dance party. Lighten up. All I know is my gf likes it. The niece likes it. I just try to avoid having to dance. I hope they put some new songs in to keep it fresh. I preferred the old jack, but the new version fits in better with what is essentially a kids show.

RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

Well still, I can see they are shifting the "lady" into the jack's place... But I find it kind of disrespectful to jack what they've done... turn him into a kids show, and take away all his presence in the park. HE WAS THE ORIGINAL FACE OF HOWL-O-SCREAM! THE VERY FIRST! If anything, I think they should atleast let him return to his old form, before they let him go... Or if Lady of the garden is gonna be the parks main icon for the next few years, maybe she can plant an "evil pumpkin seed" and grow the old jack back. In fact they could even tie her into the jack is back show that way...

I know it's a kid friendly show, but in the same way that BBW and soon to come Verbolten is the "transitional" ride, Jack is back can serve as that for the kids. Instead of having a not so scary jack show the kiddies a good time, a evil menacing looking jack can show them the same good time (well, as long as it's not like the first rendition of jack is back last year). They will see that Evil menacing character, not being scary, and you know what it may make certain portions of the event more accessible to children.

Look at it this way. How would Horror Movie fans feel if they took Freddy Kruger and replaced his Finger blade glove apparatus with whistles and balloons, and instead of burns from the parents, he just had a really bad case of dry skin. :dodgy:

But still, I think jack should be the same or atleast be scary. The way they did this transition from scary jack to not so scary jack was rather... poor? 2009 season's jack was kinda meh, but I could deal, but 2010 jack was a complete slap in the face. Im not the only one who feels this way either. Just look at the complaints on the FB page from last year... Also, when jack first popped out the pumpkin, A guy next to me shouted "What the f*** is that" It was awesome, cause I was thinking the same thing.

You DO realize he's a performer in makeup, right?

You must mistake me for a 10 year old child.

It's about him as a symbol and representing the park. What if they dyed the Clydesdale's pink and orange? Jack was HOS's "Clydesdale" before they dumbed him down.

RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

yea I agree with you Youhow, but the new jack does fit in with the show too. I agree with you about that though. The show started out scary, then turned into a kids dance show. Either way, I don't care much about this show.

Let's not be silly; The Clydesdales are recognized worldwide as a symbol of Anheuser Busch. Relatively speaking, Jack is recognized mainly by park enthusiasts and local residents of the parks that utilized the character... a character who looked more like an orange witch than the human-squash hybrid they were going for. At least this one looks like a Jack-O-Lantern...

Lighten up. Frankly, I think the whole 'Jack is Back' show is past it's time and needs to go away...

RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

A symbol is still a symbol, no matter how many recognize it or not.

RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

Clearly I can see the new symbol is the lady. I even addressed that a couple post ago. My point is Jack still deserves more than what they've done to him. Retire him, That's cool. But he should get a return to form, there was nothing wrong with the original. Taking an icon like him and turning him into the halloween version of barney sing along?... It's not cool.

Youhow2:
I want jack back... Or atleast some other "Icon"... You know, a centralized theme, A villian [sic], A reason why Busch is all of a sudden "haunted"...

And clearly I can see that, whether or not they grant you're initial wish, you'll just move the goalposts on them...

RE: Jack is Back (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

I'm actually quite excited about all I've heard about HOS this year. I've posted in other threads about my excitement and I have yet to say anything negative about HOS, other than the fact they still have elmo jack since the passmember preview on saturday. So far that's my only complaint. I actually like the Lady, but Jack was still the original HOS icon. He deserves respect, that's all im saying and all I've been saying this whole thread.

I decided to put together this song list since I didn't see one on here. The songs on this list played in the 2008 (or earlier) show.

Jack Is Back Song List - Circa 2008
1. Beastie Boys - (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) (they only played a short clip of this song)
2. Valeria - Rhythm Of The Night (cover by Moulin Rouge)
3. KC And The Sunshine Band - I'm Your Boogie Man
4. Rick James - Super Freak
5. ABBA - Dancing Queen
6. Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, Pink - Lady Marmalade
7. Donna Summer - Last Dance
8. Ray Charles - Hit The Road Jack
