Attraction Hurler

Since there isn't a Hurler thread for the Carowinds one specifically, I thought I'd share an idea I had literal minutes ago. Would Carowinds be willing to give Hurler the grizzly treatment, and steepen/largen the drop, give it a Woodland Run style speed hill, and sell new merch? Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Sure, barring a clone of Twisted Timbers. Honestly I wouldn't want clone anyway for uniqueness sake.

Yeah if they're not willing to RMC it then I'd be all for it, and I'm honestly pretty surprised they haven't yet. Reprofiling those hills, smoothing out the turns, and getting rid of the trim at the bottom would make it an easy number 5.

There's been zero rumors of it I know, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Hurler is one of the rides that just disappears in the next offseason or 2. Seems like if Anaconda, Time Warp, La Vibora, etc were removed, it makes sense that it could be too.

I wouldn’t count on it going anywhere anytime soon. They don’t upload these stats anymore, but in 2019 it was the most popular coaster outside of the big 4. If another coaster were to go anytime soon I’d bet on Cyclone.

It was a decent layout without the trim brake. The trim brakes were added in 2010 while people were distracted by new Intimidators instead of badly needed track work. By summer KD's, and I would presume Caro's, was running rougher than before the trim, and by the end KD's seemed like it might not make it back to the station. Carowinds' got a GCI retracking for 2014 including knocking down and rebuilding the first turn. I've heard of it running without the trim the first month of the season but may not do that anymore. The trim ruins the ride but apparently they're not willing to do the additional maintenance that would be needed with turning it off. The one thing I don't understand is the drop also seems neutered, maybe it just seemed better back then. Like some other coasters, it would benefit from raising the lift 2-3 inches for more airtime on every hill, along of course with removing any trim.

yk what, hell yeah. i actually liked hurler. happy to see other people like it a bit too XD

I'm pretty indifferent towards Hurler but it makes complete sense that it'd be number 5. It has much better capacity than Vortex and Flying Cobras, and it's a lot more comfortable than Carolina Cyclone (at least I think it is). Plus it's the closest thing the park has to an in between coaster, so it has a much more broad appeal than those other rides.

I found Carowinds Hurler much more tolerable than KD's. It's been ten years since I last rode KD's and I still remember how awful it was. Rough as hell and it felt like it was struggling to keep momentum though out the course. It needed to be RMC'd. Carowinds version wasn't too bad when I rode it this past summer and definitely not the worst ride in the park.

First time I've heard that about PTC individual lap bar trains. Can you elaborate?

They push your knees toward the center of the train and if you have long legs you end up sitting crooked in the seat. I have had other family and friends feel the same way.

I personally think the ride is a waste of lumber and anything would be better in that plot (or nothing, that works too), but it makes sense considering how top heavy the lineup is.

Honestly I would’ve figured Carolina Cyclone for #5, but I’m not shocked by Hurler being there.

They need to either RMC it, or replace it with something brand new. Looking at you GCI

im going to be honest i liked everything at carowinds besides kiddy hawk. and even then kiddy hawk isnt great but i can see the vision vekoma was going for and it just didnt work out.
