What's the deal? We're trying to book a hotel for a weekend in early May and everything's booked up. Is W&M having graduation or something? Is there a good weekend that might be better?

William & Mary commencement is the weekend of May 10-12.

If you're trying to book for those dates you may not have any luck.

Have you tried Newport News?

I think Newport News was a little too far out for us but yes did consider it. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait until later. Thanks!

There are hotels around the Patrick Henry Mall/Newport News airport area. It's only about a 10 minute drive from the park.

I've stayed at the Historic Powhatan Resort a few times. It's quite nice, it's a little over by Jamestown. You also get a condo, which is nice.

Yes, this place is Great. It is spacious and if you get a lower level condo, there is usually a hot tub. It's also very nice to take a peaceful stroll on the grounds. I recommend the Powhatan.

Hot tubs I believe are gone :(. But I prefer it over any hotel in the Williamsburg area.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I looked at the Powhatan and it looks really great! The only thing that worries me is that on tripadvisor there are a lot of mixed reviews good and bad and the pictures are varied with different styles and such. So I can only assume that your experience depends greatly on what particular room you happen to get? Maybe you guys can fill me in on this. Apparently as of last fall there were some issues with bedbugs, paint splatters, worn down/beat up furniture, etc. I did also read that the hot tubs are no longer available :( But still this definitely looks like a place to consider.

Their are two types of condos. The bottom floor ones have Flat Screen TV's, huge showers,an extra bedroom, formally a Hot tub.their might be something new in that room, but they have hot tubs at the pool anyway. The top floor is pretty shitty though, so the bottom floor is worth the extra money IMO. I have never had a problem with bugs or any of the other stuff on tripadvisor.(I've stayed their 4 or 5 times)

I 100 percent recommend it!
