There was talk on a Facebook group that the hotel is no longer a Best Western, and may have got broken up into 2 hotels (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Motel+6+Doswell+Near+Kings+Dominion/@37.8438488,-77.4501511,202m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m8!1m2!2m1!1sHotel+Kings+dominion!3m4!1s0x0:0x1d089124785c679c!8m2!3d37.8441247!4d-77.4507628):

Also they said that the campground now has a sign that says Coming Soon KOA.

Did Cedar Fair sell them off recently?

The Hotel hasn't been owned by the park since the Paramount days, and did split November 1st into Motel 6 and Centerstone Hotels. As far as the campground is concerned, it looks like it will be turned into a KOA campground but still be owned and operated by the park.

Link to Campground on KOA site, notice the contact email address is still a Kings Dominion email.

It's official- Camp Wilderness is now "Kings Dominion KOA."

Based on the park's blog post, the change is in name only, and Kings Dominion still owns and operates the campground.

We have some exciting news! Camp Wilderness is now the Kings Dominion KOA.

So what exactly does this mean? It’s the same great camping, just with a new name. Camp Wilderness is still owned and operated by Kings Dominion, but is now affiliated with KOA, one of the largest camping organizations in the world! That means there are a lot more benefits to those of you who love camping (or kamping!)

On park's campground page, the campground is still called "Kings Dominion Camp Wilderness" but is referred to as a "KOA property." The old Camp Wilderness logo is still being used, but now all the images of the campground have been watermarked with the KOA logo. It looks like members of KOA's benefits/rewards programs will be able to receive all the benefits they would at any other KOA.

This seems like a brilliant marketing idea, as KOA is a nationally recognized and respected brand. The brand recognition will probably help pull some more business to the well-kept but often poorly-attended campground.
