What on earth are they wearing?
Clothes.
Ok, end of sarcasm.
This show is a contemporary/pop music show and the costumes reflects the current "hipster" style (course, in a more exaggerated style for this region of the country). I feel it is a step up from the "Pop Fusion" costumes worn last year; especially for the girls performing. I think I might get me a pair of the high-top sneakers everyone is wearing.
Since I have seen this show only once on opening weekend (did catch part of another show on the way out), I don't want to compare the talent to last years cast right yet. I want to see it a couple more times once the current cast has grown a little into their roles.
The biggest change I have seen with "Hit List", compared to last years "Pop Fusion", is that the cast is very interactive with the audience before, during, and after the show. That did not happen last year.
General things about this show compared to last year:
1) Music selection is "toned down" compared to last year's "Pop Fusion". I think some of last years music was borderline appropriate in a park promoting a "family" image. I believe there were some complaints from park patrons on that issue.
2) I actually liked the music in this show, a little mix of some "oldies" and current pop / hip-hop that was more "PG-13" than "R".
3) This appears to be a whole new cast. I noticed there were only 3 guys compared to 4 girls performing. Not sure if that was the intended cast number or if they are still short a person. I did notice that RWS & Associates was looking for an immediate replacement male singer for a pop music show in mid-March [Facebook]. The contract dates did line up with the run of "Hit List" at KD. So I wonder if they are still searching for someone, or they have a performer lined up; but the performer cannot start until a future date. Again, maybe 7 performers was the intended cast number. [shrug]
Oh, you might want to check out RWS & Associates Facebook site. They have some designer from Los Angeles, CA handling the costume design for Kings Dominion's 2014 shows. I connected to this person's Facebook site and, he has designed VERY avant-gard, Haute Couture [Sp?] clothing as well as more show related costumes for quite a few major music/movie stars. I am pretty sure you will NOT see the extreme adult clothing/costumes at Kings Dominion. But, as I scroll down his Facebook timeline, I do like quite a bit of work he has done for some of the show costumes.
