8 Terrifying Haunted Houses:
-Walking Dead. Season 4 Maze
Hang onto your heads, Hershel fans…. Universal Orlando Resort has revealed the first of its eight mazes for Halloween Horror Nights 2014, and the line ends at TERMINUS. For a third consecutive year, Universal will be taking guests back to AMC's blockbuster realm of 'The Walking Dead' with the largest, longest maze in the event's history.
-From Dusk Till Dawn Maze
The maze will first put guests inside the “Titty Twister” strip club, coming face-to-face with sexy sirens to draw them in doing their famous snake dance. From there, “all hell breaks loose” as guests experience into a blood bath, temple, back into the strip club, and much more mayhem. -Source
-AVP: Alien Vs Predator
Get caught in the middle of a savage battle between these two horrific extraterrestrial species and try to avoid becoming collateral damage.
-Dracula Untold
This house takes you through the terrifying origin of the man who became Dracula. Each room contains gothic scenes that highlight Vlad the Impaler’s transition into the bloodthirsty creature.
As you enter the house, you'll see firsthand the frightening cave that Dracula first emerged from on his path to damnation. The house becomes especially eerie as you progress through a destroyed village and into the woods on the way to Dracula’s foreboding castle. In the final scene, you'll come face-to-face with Dracula’s victims: those who were impaled  and who begged to be saved before he took their last breath.
Each turn in this new house presents a horrifying experience straight out of the movie, including the war between Dracula and the attacking Turks. Dracula is here, and his thirst for blood is never-ending.
-Roanoke Cannibal Colony
The year was 1587. It was one of the first settlements of the colonial era. The people living here were expecting supplies from Europe, but there was a war going on so they couldn’t make the voyage. Three years later, when the supply ship finally arrived, everyone was gone…except the deranged cannibals who’d managed to survive by eating their fellow settlers.
As a guest, you’re fighting you’re way through this chaotic gauntlet of flesh-hungry man-eaters. What’s cool about the set is that Karen, our décor guru, has traveled up to Virginia to some of these historic settlements and brought back photos for us to use as visual reference. So, the scenery you’re observing throughout the maze is all pulled straight from theses real-life settlements.
-Giggles & Gore, Inc.
So, we asked ourselves, where do evil clowns come from? And we discovered evil clowns are not born, they’re made. It’s an actual process. We all know that there are countless unsolved disappearances across the country. Where do these people end up? In the clown factory, being stretched, smashed and eviscerated.
Faces are peeled off and voice boxes are torn out. Victims are dropped into a wood chipper, and the gunk that comes out is shoved into other people to create these massive, nasty stuffed clowns.
Toward the end, you encounter the most evil of all evil clowns: The Discarded. These are the surviving clowns that have been cast down for being too dangerous to exist, even with other evil clowns.
-Dollhouse of the Damned
The word to keep in mind here is ‘juxtaposition.’ When you walk into the house, you find yourself in this old-time morgue. But this little girl has set up shop and now it’s her playhouse. She’s torturing people in there. So you’re taking the sweetness of the dollhouse and childhood and combining it with something completely sinister. That theme remains throughout the maze. Another phrase we use is ‘forced integration.’ You’ll see characters with porcelain doll masks that have been smashed into their faces, and now they’re permanent. They’re victims of this twisted amalgamation. It’s really creepy.
Michael Myers style.

Booked a weekend there at the Royal Pacific hotel on the last weekend in September. whoop! I was even able to pawn it off as a 1st anniversary present for the wife!

Anyone ever stayed on-site during HHN? Any tips?
We are considering going to Halloween Horror Nights this year. It will be our very first time going for Halloween.
I signed up to receive emails from them. But I came here also to see if anyone had heard any rumors or news about this year's line up yet.
I think we are going to stay on site at the Royal Pacific. Just need to pin down a good weekend to go.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)
We just booked for the last weekend of September. mainly because had a promo running to get 20% off the price at those hotels. All the onsite hotels are expensive around HHN and you have to do a minimum 2 night stay. There are promo codes out there for certain sites that give you at least 10% off. Maybe someone will have a 20% coupon again soon too. I'd sign up with and subscribe to their newsletter. Dude sends out links to good deals every month.

As far as HHN tips...
  • Get a 2 park pass so you can do all the harry potter stuff including going back and forth on the Hogwarts Express.
  • Before 4 head over to USO and go to Finnegan's, get some food/drinks. Once they clear the park, and staff a few houses they'll let you out first. Go hit the closest house, then by the time you get out you'll see a huge wave of people that just got let in from the hotel. Try to stay in front of them and go see another house. After that you're on your own.
  • If you are only going for a night or two, I'd highly recommend the express pass so you can hit all the houses in one night.
  • Don't skip out on the Bill and Ted show. Each show can be a little different and it is sooo much fun to watch.
  • Be prepared for your night to get rained on. It comes and goes, so you'll get to experience everything.

I read one of the comments there. I like the idea of a Stephen King house. There's so many good stories, they could do the whole event themed to Stephen King, especially considering the recent Carrie movie and Under the Dome show.

I think it's kind of a stretch to say that all three would have the same theme. Orlando has gotten some houses that Hollywood had, but usually a year or two later.
We have chosen the last weekend in September also and are going to stay at the Royal Pacific again. Going to look into the 20% off too. Can't wait to see all the new HP additions and a new Halloween experience.
Hopefully they start releasing pieces of information on houses and such sometime soon. Lol

There probably won't be hotel deals for stays at Universal hotels then both because of HHN and the HP expansion. But when they have deals they are often targeted (with a specific code) at people who sign up for their emails. Sign up all parties visiting that check their email at the Universal and Loews Hotels site and you could get lucky. They recently ran an email for 30% off HR; 40% off RPR and PB through June 1. Some people got a 45% any hotel code. Granted, this is their off-season. If you book directly through Universal/Loews (not a package) you can call and change without penalty to a lower rate if one arises.

This information is great!  We are going in August and have booked at the Royal Pacific (mostly for the early entrance to HP).  I have never previously worried about hotel fees in Florida, because we have a place on the beach.

Weird, he was a big deal in 2010 for Hollywood's HHN, but there was also a new Freddy movie in 2010 too.
Never mind. Facebook post says 'Don't fall asleep'. Definitely Freddy.

Great, now I'm going to have nightmares. Dude scared the crap out of me when I was little.

The walking dead is coming back for the third year in a row.

Also, to further cement the Freddy thing:

"The one thing we always strive for is a good blend of horror," says Aiello, who says fans can expect "more recognizable [genre brands] from the past year or two … and at least one maze that keys into horror's roots and where it all started."

Actually, I would like the idea of a Freddy, Mike Meyers, Jason house. sort of a house for the advent of the modern horror movie. Kind of like how they did a house in 2012 that had the original monsters (Dracula, Mummy, Wolf-man, Creature).
