This post is made to discuss which is better: Griffon or Sheikra.

In my opinion Sheikra is better because it's colored red, has a tunnel, it actually has SOME theming, it didn't destroy the surrounding landscape or trees, and the splashdown is more picturesque than Griffon's.

The Griffon tore out a classic, slashed through dozens of trees, and removed a signature element from Loch Ness (being isolated in the forest near the beginning). This doesn't mean I hate Griffon, it just has flaws. Making a coaster five feet taller and adding an additional Immelmann doesn't make a ride significantly better. The view from griffon is far superior to Sheikra's view, though.

Voice your opinion here, whether it's Sheikra or Griffon, state your opinion.

SHEIKRA IS BETTER! (In my opinion:p)

Griffon to me feels faster and is scarier at the top.

With all the commercial property and taller buildings around Sheikra, you don't feel as high up.

Griffon only has a brewery and a bunch of trees and a major river to look out on to, you feel more isolated there!

Plus going under the bridge and the extra Immelmann help too... :)

IMO

The rides themselves are very similar, but Sheikra is a little better executed on the drop and immelmann. Sheikra also has a better themed, more compact, better laid out area around the ride that shows off the ride better. While Griffon has "any old village" with a quite out of the way splash zone. Griffon does have an edge over Sheikra with it's location in a forested setting and near the James River. Also, Griffon's second half is more playful with the second immelmann and air time hills. I'm not really counting this, but Griffon also is a funner ride to watch from off ride with the bridge and lack of tall trees in the area.

But my vote went with Sheikra. For that fact that the first half is executed much better than Griffon, and it's better themed, and better laid out. It's only just barely better than Griffon though.

It's also just barely different.

The thing is, is that BGW gave Griffon more space, while BGT placed It much closer together and near things like trees, buildings, and pathways. If BGW built Griffon more like Sheikra, then the woodsy feeling at the Loch Ness Monster would likely still be intact. The coaster itself would then be more isolated with natural theming (things that help the ride experience, but weren't there on purpose) like trees, buildings, terrain, and coming close to the pathways. This would've also aided the story element of the Griffon attacking a French village. :D
