I wonder if Passport to Thrills will be just a DJ in front of Pantheons station...............

Glad to see Grand Carnivale is coming back! Definitely notice a spike in attendance when that was going on last year. Imagine Tumbili will be mobbed on those Saturdays..................or on Saturdays in general.

I had the pleasure of being at Grand Carnivale last year and had a great time. First time I’d seen a parade outside of Disney in a a LONG time. Also, the general atmosphere of the park was so fun and nice, I genuinely enjoyed my time despite the crowds.

According to the Special Events page, Grand Carnivale will not be operating on Tuesdays during its run. This is in line with what they did last season.

What is interesting, however, is Carowinds is running their event every single day during their run, with no days off.

Each park sets their own schedule for their special events. The same goes for Haunt and Winterfest schedules. Each park knows their own regional visitor demographics/behaviors and set their schedules accordingly.

Maybe, KD wanted to give their Carnivale participants a day off. Or, Carowinds budgeted for more performers and can run their event 7 days a week.

I find that KD operates more limited entertainment than KI. They seem to hire less performers with no swing performers. KI always has swings. That’s probably why one day off.

All Carnivale dates from June 25th to July 10th will run from 3pm to 9pm. This will be the longest the event has run during a single operating day, as in 2019 the event operated from 5pm to 10pm, and in 2021, the event operated from 4pm to 8pm.

Noting to avoid to go on Saturdays and Sundays during that time. I could tell last year there was a noticeable spike in people in the park on a Sunday. I think KD needs to ramp up the events like this because I definitely feel like the events pull people in. It's kinda surprising KD doesn't have any sort of craft beer festival honestly.

I still can't get over how short the runtime for this event is. It's really well done and guests seem into it. I wouldn't object to it running all summer long, but three weeks is like aggressively short.

I totally agree. I also feel for the performers who spend so long preparing for this giant undertaking of an event only to do it for three weeks. With that being said, I absolutely love the event and can’t wait to see what changes they make this year!

That is bizarre. Char Siu is a Cantonese style of BBQ where Teriyaki is Japanese. Each have very distinct flavors as Char Siu is made primarily of Chinese Five Spice, hoisin and oyster sauces, and fermented bean curd and is very red. Teriyaki is a sweet soy sauce made with mirin, sake and sugar.

Now this is some proper German food.

Obviously haven't seen or tasted them yet, but on paper it is very authentic.

At the park tonight, the Carnivale Crafts tent is a nice addition to see for this year's event, as I don't seem to recall it at previous years.

EDIT: I learned they have had the craft tents at previous Carnivales. Still a cool idea for families with younger kids though.

The tent's description:
Dress to impress for the king and queen of Carnivale!
Create your very own dazzling crowns, flowering lei or carnivale noise maker to bring along with you to the spectacle of color parade.

IMG_1293.jpg

(Not sure about the noise maker part though, and standing beside overly-zealous kids in the parade crowd, all trying to impress the king and queen with their creations 😉)

I'm always stunned by how great this event is. Long parade, immense cast, great food—it really feels like peak KD in all the best ways. Also, I'm a sucker for interactive, environmental performers and characters and Carnivale even provides that. It just makes the park's core feel so alive.
