Didn't they used to have some golf related items in the Tweedside Station shop?

But would you be able to rent a golf cart to drive around the property?

For real though, I'm not sure the need for a full on pro shop. Would people really want to carry clubs and such around the park all day? I'm not sure that golf is currently popular enough to warrant this.

The golf cart bit certainly was.

But look, I like golf. I played on my high school team.

Golf is not popular enough to warrant a full on shoppe at BGW.

Also I think a simulator with pre-programmed “iconic” shots and a leaderboard for the day would be awesome. 18 at St Andrews, 7 at Pebble Beach, 17 at TPC Sawgrass, 18 at Carnustie.

And then you could sit and watch it all alone as everyone walks by and doesn't enter the shop.

I mean, I work for a place that does instruction inside another store and I stay busy enough. Polos, sweaters, quarter zips, vests all branded with BGW park and ride logos? That’s stuff would go. Throw in some things like Nessie headcovers, Griffin headcovers, balls with the Bolt logo, ball markers with various logos from rides and the park? That would all sell too even as collectors items.

A nice mini golf course would be fun for kids, were there any room in Heatherdowns for it. Not worth “finding” land or moving stables, obv.

Though I sometimes wonder if, 20 years from now, maintaining the larger horses in confined areas for several hours per day will come under fire.

A movie named “Blacksteed.”

Not saying I agree btw.

Go ahead, there’s a disapproving reaction emoji right there. Really, you have three to choose from.

It's a very niche market though that doesn't have a huge overlap with the main demographics of theme park visitors.

For the same reason a tennis (Wimbledon) theme tennis shop would not survive in England.

I wouldn't even visit that shop and I play 2-3 tennis matches a week.

So only golfers wear polos and sweaters, only tennis players wear certain things? I think those shops would do great. Beer Steins are a very niche market and that store always has people in it. I don’t see why a store with some golf stuff and lots of nice logoed apparel would be “too niche”.

And who’s to say there isn’t a huge overlap of golfers and theme parks? Shit half the pros I know have BGW or KD memberships and are regulars.

There's actually quite a bit of overlap between the amusement industry itself and golfing. A lot of our annual employee events at Great Adventure were hosted at country clubs and stuff.

Because we are considered the same industry. “Recreational entertainment.” There’s no such thing as a College Degree in “Professional Golf Management”. Most have their actual bachelors in “Parks and Recreation Management.” There are many branches under that. But certainly very overlapping fields. One is just much much more specialized (no offense to anyone else in PARM. Golf just requires a special skill set in teaching the game).

No such this as a college degree in Golf management you say? Pga.org disagrees.

You don’t have a degree in being a PGA professional. You have a degree in business/marketing/tourism with a certified PGA status and education.

There is no such thing as majoring in “PGA”.

Signed - a PGA member.

I am 100% for this. I would love a golf shop with a simulator and a mini golf course. I think it would be a really nice addition to BGW. The only problem would be where they would put it. There is some land between the trains and Pompeii and where Loch Ness monster runs back there.

I'm sorry, but I'd have to disagree. This isn't a "family fun center"; it's a major theme park. There is so much more they could/should add that would appeal to a vast majority of visitors. Dark rides, more flats, better eateries would be a much better investment, imho.

I think done the right way, it can appeal to full families. Not all moms, dads, sons, daughters, etc love riding rides, and would spend more family time doing something like this in there.
