All of this sounds excellent! In addition to all of the new and returning mazes, it's exciting to see the Showcase Theater once again opening its doors to host Unleashed. I highly recommend making some time to see that show if you're going to the park for Fright Fest - it's been consistently spectacular.

A little while back our friend on here @harry580 had mentioned some dirt/land clearance near the Metropolis bridge, and it looks like that was to prep for a haunted attraction! It'll be interesting to see how they wind up utilizing the new space. The shape looks more than a little like the Gideon building in the Saw promo images...

Hopefully they just watched the trainwreck at MM and are throwing resources at it, but I'm not holding my breath for it to be any better...

Since all Legacy Memberships include Fright Fest Extreme admission, you might be able to remain in the park:

Guests who have purchased both General/Daytime and Fright Fest Extreme Tickets and Pass Holders with Fright Fest Extreme access will be permitted to stay in the park with a valid wristband to continue to enjoy rides, food and daytime attractions before Fright Fest Extreme begins at 6pm. All daytime guests without Fright Fest Extreme tickets or a valid wristband will be asked to exit the park at 5pm.

Good intel from @CoasterRattler🐍 above - those were the only two mazes on the menu today. It makes sense that the non-IP mazes were more readily available, with the exception of Asylum (which will be right next to SAW in the relatively remote Picnic Grove area).

As the park mentioned in their announcement, despite this weekend being downgraded to a preview, all of the shows were ready to go with multiple performances, and the midway scare zones were all fully themed and extremely well staffed.

A few initial impressions...

The scare zones are a little more condensed now, and I think they're better off for it. There are a lot of props and you get the feeling that danger is around every corner.

I do miss the Lakefront zone; it was a really good scare actor ambush point and the costumes in the area were solid. That said, the new Demon District impressed me a lot. There's a ton of action on a small footprint. It's in a bit of a corner and might not see a ton of traffic from people who don't want to go on the rides in that vicinity, which is a shame. I liked everything about it.

Shows:
- Dead Man's Party is always a classic and this year's is no different. They had a nice mix of music with nods to the past for the show's 25th anniversary. Before and after the show, they played recordings of some fan favorite songs from years past.
- Unleashed was once again very good. A pretty absurd array of stunts with talented performers. I thought the finale was on the tamer side compared to prior years, but the third routine (out of four) may have been bonkers enough to compensate for that.
- Blade Drummers was a lot more elaborate than I expected it to be. A bunch of pyro and sharp object usage neatly integrated into the musical performance. Really enjoyable.
- Freak Show was similar to last year, which isn't a bad thing - it's a fun and kooky show with a personable performer that does just the right amount. None of the acts overstay their welcome.

Mazes:
- I ended up waiting over an hour for Big Top Terror, a returning maze from last year. With this being a preview, I figured it might be a work in progress and tried to lower my expectations in kind. It was... Actually really good! There was more of a cohesive storyline, a lot of actors, plenty of added elements, and some really lively 3D effects. I was very pleased with the improvements.
- Witches Reflections is a mirror maze, which means mileage can vary (are you fully focused on the effects or are you more worried about finding the correct path to follow?). Effect wise, it's really well done with a lot of illusory positioning that catches you off guard. I thought they did a good job here.

Overall, even taking the disappointment of a delay into account, this was a nice soft opening for the park's frightful festivities. Everyone who bought a Fright Fest Extreme ticket for this weekend is also being comped another visit for the full event.
