RE: Forum Rules (Last Update: 09/30/2014)

The following has been added to the bottom of the "Forum Rules"...

"Note: The rules above apply to all site posts and messages. Please report any violation to site staff."

This was done in order to clarify our stance on private messages and emails sent through the site. Nothing has actually changed, we simply thought it wise to state how we handle them in writing.

—————————————

The following has been added to the "Style Guidelines & Forum Etiquette"...

"Include descriptive text captions with all forum attachments in order to make them searchable."

This clause was added in order to make the images uploaded to our site searchable. Since we're paying to store them and serve them to users, we believe that they should serve some use after they're initially posted.

—————————————

As always, the full forum rules can be found, here.

RE: Forum Rules (Last Update: 10/01/2014)

Time for another Forum Rules update! This time around, it's a big one.

We've implemented the changes we consulted the panel about last night and completely reformatted the Forum Rules page to make the crimes and the punishments crystal clear. Anyway, here's the link to the newly updated rules: Link

Pssst. You should look at them just to see how fancy they are. ;)

Note: Multiple account rules will go into effect one week from today. If you have a duplicate account, PM an Admin ASAP so we can get it sorted before it becomes a punishable offense.

We are giving everyone a one week amnesty period in which to report all duplicate accounts and other users who may be accessing the forum with your internet connection.

In light of the Panel's decision about how to enforce the rule against having more than one account associated with a single IP address, we plan to start enforcing the new sanctions starting next Saturday.

We will work with everyone who reports clone accounts between now and midnight Friday (20 February) to either merge or approve them as appropriate.  We do understand that sometimes multiple active users must use the same IP address.  Similarly, we are open to secondary accounts, if there is a good justification.  In both cases we simply need to be notified so we can approve them.  Everyone who contacts us over this week will be exempt from warnings and bans for the reported duplicate accounts.

Starting next Saturday (21 February) we will begin merging and banning unauthorized duplicate accounts and issuing warnings or life bans as appropriate.

Please contact one or more Admins over the next week, so we can adjudicate your extra accounts during this amnesty period.

Because there has been so much staff turnover, even if you think your account has been approved, please contact us to confirm.  Similarly, if you think that you might be inadvertently sharing an IP address, because you use the same internet connection as another user, please reach out to the Admins.

Not sure if Evan already contacted any of you in time but I remember him mentioning that he had an alternate account from the wiki days he used to help with Gavin, Zachary, and Shane. Just giving a heads up to try and prevent something like this gets glossed over and a similar thing to David's addition to the banlist happens.

Thanks b.mac!

If he was using if for official business, I'm sure it is already approved, but everyone has until next Saturday to contact us anyway.

I'd better clarify the dates in the post...

A quick reminder that everyone has until midnight tonight to report any duplicate accounts, before we start issuing warnings and bans tomorrow.

Even if you believe your second account has been approved in the past, please contact one of the Admins to confirm. With all of the staff turnover, information about approved accounts may have been lost.

Similarly, if you think you may be sharing an IP address with another person, or if you think you may have an old, forgotten user account, please notify us today.

Thanks to everyone, who has already PMed us. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support.

I wanted to remind everyone that if you want to post content that you think might violate a rule, please contact an Admin first. We can approve posts, including those that would fall under the category of self-promotion in advance. If you don’t, we can’t give you a waiver.

FYI: I'd reported it a couple week's back, but the rules link is still broken.

The following error is displayed:

Tried on an array of devices (Android/iPhone and a desktop).
