"Fiends in the Festhaus" ran from 2003 to 2006. It had some clever dance routines. Afterwards, the cast took you outside to a jammin' PA and cast members would do Cha Cha Slide, Twist and other dances with the public in front of the Festhaus. Another good public interaction now missing.

A lot of the numbers carried over to the new show in Abby. Thriller (with shadows behind a scrim), Feed My Frankenstein, Weird Science, I Got You (I Feel Good) and Time Warp. No live singing in the old show that I recall, just dancing. Anyone remember the hologram talking head on the pipe organ? Sorry, no pics of that. Just vids in the archive. :(

RE: Fiends in Das Festhaus (2003 to 2006)

Thanks for the pictures! I split your post off into a new thread for the original Fiends in the Festhaus as it's quite a bit different from Fiends 2011 or the new version of the show in the Abbey Stone.

RE: Fiends in Das Festhaus (2003 to 2006)

Thanks, Zach. I thought about doing that. But, I saw the other thread and went with that. I agree, much different show. Thanks again!

RE: Fiends in the Festhaus (2003 to 2006)

I was patiently waiting for this thread. Fiends in the Festhaus was the show I saw, every time I went to HoS, multiple times a day. (to the point of, by the time 06 rolled around, I saw it once and was like "Okay I've had enough.") I loved the nurses then, just as much as I love the nurses now.

On quieter nights, it was always more fun to see the show, because they really interacted with the audience. My dad once had one of the nurses sit in his lap and cover his eyes during the "I will Survive/I'm a Woman" sequence. (With all the bat-girls/female vampires?? I was never sure what or who they were supposed to be.) And the times we had various creatures jump up on our table and just dance. (Appropriately mind you, I was the oldest child, and I would have been between 13-16 when this show was around.)

And actually I remember the hologram head! I remember originally though it was an actor in like a black cloak. Before they changed it to the hologram. I remember being really disappointed to see the hologram, because it always did the same thing, while an actor could ham up that 'role' a bit.

However, I only remember them doing the dance party thing, for one or two years.

I do miss the audience interaction. This show had two different numbers where the audience got up and danced (Originally "The Monster Mash" but later changed to "Freak Show" and, of course, The Time Warp.), not to mention at one point they took a man (with the nurses) and a woman (with the vampire? i know in one recording on youtube, there was a male nurse and he sang to a girl form the audience.)

RE: Fiends in the Festhaus (2003 to 2006)

The hologram head was the same guy that was the lead in the show in Italy, Frightnight Party http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5WoDBY_KBs. He's the man in the middle at the beginning and was in a lot of shows at Busch for years and very talented.

The performers of Fiends in the Festhaus did not do the dance party. They were other cast members who wore costumes just like those in the show. My daughter loved to dance with them but in general it wasn't a very popular attraction. It wasn't because they weren't talented and spirited but, I suppose, because people were self-conscious about dancing in such a public setting.

And I'm amazed to see how many people were in the band at that time; I count 16. You certainly don't see that any more.

Obviously you have missed the story in another thread about my brother's stripper experience with a nurse. It used to get wild in the Festhaus on the slow nights back in the day y'all! :D

RE: Fiends in the Festhaus (2003 to 2006)

Oh no I saw it. lol I think they kept it appropriate for our table because we did have so many kids. (Kids ranging from about 7-8, to however old I was that particular year we went.)

But honestly, back then, I wouldn't of been able to tell the difference between "Appropriate dancing" and "inappropriate dancing". The other kids and myself all saw it as "Hey people in costumes dancing to really fun songs." (I mean as I got older I noticed the fact that when the nurses raised their arms, their underwear would show, but I never saw it as something bad. I knew it was just a costume, and I figured it was some sort of dancewear. None of the other kids ever questioned it either.)

Haberdasher, you're not alone on that one. Festhaus Fright Night was pretty great. The first year of Frankenrock however...

RE: Fiends in the Festhaus (2003 to 2006)

Wasn't Frankenrock "he who shan't be named"'s first attempt to replace Ms. DeHart's shows? She had lots of clever choreography and ideas in that show. It must have burned him a new one to have to bring her show back over his. Plus, some of her skits were replicated in the new show.

I miss this show. Especially I'm A Woman! Loved that part! I think they could have fit it cutely into Fiends, but ah well. My favorite dancer gal when I was little from Jukebox was in it, and my brother and I danced with her during the Time Warp. My brother found himself a wacko nurse that he liked, too. :p Glad they kept most of the music for Fiends!

I will say in 2011, I absolutely fell in love.
The singer for that song ^ and the Monster Mash. She usually was out in the crowd hiding in a sweat suit until time to perform. Then...POW!!
