Here, we can discuss the stage in Festhaus, the new stage, the old stage, the stage last year-doesn't matter.

I found a picture that may suggest that the old stage was from BGT when they had the festhaus there. You may corect me on this since the picture is HORRIBLE!
Here it is-

The Festhaus in Tampa was actually added afterwards due to the success of the one here. The inside was German themed, but the exterior fit the Timbuktu theme of that section. It was later converted into an African themed version called Desert Grill.
Edit: These are some of the concept designs for the interior of the Desert Grill. You can see how it still resembles Das Festhaus.
Here's the balcony:

The Tampa one is about half to 2/3rd as big as Das Festhaus. They removed the stage, put up a new stage towards the back of the Grill and moved all the tables towards the front. It's actually not a bad place to catch a show. They did Fiends there last year for HoS, since they were renovating the old theatre for the Madagascar show. Great setup in my opinion. and they have a full bar up front kind of where BG's bar sits in the Festhaus.

I kind of prefered last year's stage to this year's stage. This one kind of limits the types of shows that can be performed there. How do you put Casket Club or Deck the Halls without tearing most of that set down? It also sort of removes the imaginative nature of last year's stage. I don't know if I can say it the right way, but last year, the stage was fairly barren and used the wired props and lighting to suggest the setting and your imagination filled in the rest. Whereas this year's stage just spells it all out for you. Give me last year's stage without the gaudy "enhancements" to the interior walls of the Festhaus and I'd be happier than a slinky on an escalator. (thanks GEICO)

I mentioned before how cool it would be if they could combine the two stage types.
In other words, most of that space under the stage could have supports that would rise to hold the lift. The dancers would have more room, plus that way they can do a complete transformation between shows with just a little "theatrical magic".
That would make me happier than a witch in a broom factory.(Another Geico reference)

The new stage was originally designed to have a fully removable center and there were murmurs that a new removable raising stage could show up one day but, unfortunately, I have yet to see any evidence that the removable core of the stage ever actually came to fruition.

This isn't about the stage, but if you look in the back of the Festhaus, you can see neuschwanstein castle up in the mountains. It looks really cool, much cooler than the one last year. :p

Definitely! With last year's castle, they had stones in bright pastel colors all over the castle. During Howl-O-Scream, they didn't even remove those bright colors that looked really bad. Come Christmastime all of those were gone. I thought that was a bit mixed up.;)

So do we have a verdict on whether they threw the old (original) stage out permanently...or is it in storage?

From what I understand, it has been scrapped. If anyone knows differently, by all means, let me know.

Isn't there a time-lapse video of the whole transformation that might answer that question? I know someone posted it on here a few months ago.

DAMN I hate not working there & trolling in here as a "non-employee". lol

Here is the time-lapse video.

Also, since they put in an identical rising stage at busch gardens tampa, maybe that means that the stage is easy (or semi-easy) to build. Instead of bringing back the old stage, they could make a new one, but make it look the same as the old one. Maybe?
