Today WDW unwrapped 55 gondolas for their new Disney Skyliner system, which will go into service in the Fall. Gondolas with characters, films, attractions and more will transport guests from select resorts to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

We actually saw them up on the cables in the wrapping last week. I was wondering how long they would hang there before something interesting happened.

Besides obviously the cool cabin designs, what separates this from a regular skyride? Just curious...

I think of these as mini-buses in the sky. They accommodate 10 passengers and go to two parks (Epcot & DHS) from 4 resorts. There's 300 gondolas, so it will certainly take some buses, etc. of the roads. This ain't your grandpa's Buick Skyride. ?

Anything is better than the godawful shuttle bus experience. I’d rather ride a donkey to Epcot than go through that sweat-stained hell again.

I can not believe they won’t be running at least the Studios line be opening of SWGE.

Cuz Galaxy's Edge has been a booming success and all

(It hasn't I was kidding)

Best transportation method on property, IMO. Aside from some slight delays as a result of the continuous movement, nothing was more enjoyable and rather quick. Going from AoA to Epcot and HS was always easy.

I do feel awful for the employees running it however, as I witnessed many guests borderline verbally harass these CMs because of their anxiety of heights and getting stuck. This one woman yelled at the man saying "how do you not know if it'll get stuck, you work here" and some other beyond crazy shit. Then she spoke to a supervisor and bad talked this CM, saying he was rude and should lose his job. I was baffled.

I think they need to expand support to the animal kingdom via transfers to Coronado springs and then say a potential second gate at the back of the park. Animal kingdom is too desolate as it is currently.

Counterpoint.

The first time we rode it, the weather was mild, and it was a pleasant trip. On our next visit to Disney, the temperatures were in the upper 50s / low 60s, and it was very unpleasant. The vents behind the seats blew cold air right at seat level on my back, and I understand the other side was equally chilly. I wonder how hot the gondolas will get in the Summer, as well.
