So back in 2000/2001 when Ireland was the new kid on the block and Killarney was being built I made a website for Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It was called Busch Gardens Online and I discovered - to my glee/embarrassment - that Wayback Machine had a capture of it! You can visit the capture here: https://web.archive.org/web/20010723020813/http://www.buschgardensonline.com/ in all it's post-90s glory but most of the links are broken. Here's a screenshot of the fancy html coding I was still learning way back when I was a wee Mer-thing:
I was particularly proud of the feature that you can still access via the little crown at the bottom of the site. It's a virtual "tour" of the park complete with pictures I took. But if you continue through it you discover that *gasp* the Queen of England has been kidnapped by the Howl-o-scream demons! And the only way to save her is to follow an online maze of pages where you click through images and gets clues and pick up objects that help you rescue the queen... It was pretty nifty. Sadly it doesn't look like Wayback archived the maze though.
The book icon would take you to a special feature for Ireland with all the updates and concept art and such.
The bat would take you to the official (at the time) Howl-o-scream website (which still takes you there and it's so ooolllddd!).
The heart took you to an interview I wrote called The Apollon Wedding and it was about the couple that got married on Apollo's Chariot. I really wished that had been archived because it was really sweet and I got to talk to the actual couple (who were so nice and totally indulged this weirdo kid asking them about their coaster wedding).
And of course we all remember "Adventure Lives Here!"
Anywho, I just wanted to share this with you guys. It's just silliness really but I worked SO hard on it when I was a kid. I made little pages for all the roller coasters of the time and... *nostalgic sigh*... I was always in love with BGW.
Thanks! <3
