RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012: Dig it Up

If you like Mix It Up and don't really mind not having a theme for Halloween, then you will probably like this show. The performers did a very good job with the material, and I love the giant-sized T-Rex skeleton in the middle of the stage. There were a few subtle, funny moments (chariots of fire) and the cave girl is very cute. That being said, I fail to see how this show belongs in Howl-O-Scream. Cavemen? Roman soldiers? Egyptian Pharaohs? And an alien? Geesh! I kept hoping the T-Rex would come to life like in "Night in the Museum" and eat everybody. This show was at least entertaining enough to keep me interested, but I doubt I will go out of my way to see it again. At least it was better than Night Beats, though.
One more thing; this is pretty much unavoidable but hearing the music from this show while walking across the bridge to Germany pretty much kills the creepy atmosphere that is created with the "Come Play in My Garden" theme & song. :dodgy:

We loved Dig it up. No, it wasn't Halloween based but as a show itself we saw it three times this weekend. Bohemian Rhapsody was my favorite song. I've always been a huge fan of that song so to hear it made my day.

Tonight I gave this show another chance. I saw it this evening around 7:30. The atmosphere is much better with the fog and lighting effects. I still don't think it is a proper Halloween-themed show for Howl-O-Scream, but it IS an entertaining experience...just like Mix It Up. Maybe it can replace that show next season.

I like it, but recommend that you see it at night. Good music and performers. Cave girl steals the show. :)

This was a fantastic show, but I'm frankly glad that some of the park's under-rated talent got a major role. They have a couple people from the Polka band in the show as well as the drummer from Celtic Fyre this year.

Video will be up later today- hopefully that will help with your search. By the way, thanks for the set lists!

You are welcome. It started as a play-by-play for a friend on my phone, then I decided it might help out for viewers of these forums. I tend to go a little overboard for things I enjoy.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012: Dig it Up

Anyone interested in some kind of "Cave Girl" fan club to show some love for this very entertaining lady? What I had in mind was maybe coordinating with a couple of fans for a performance. Everyone sits on the left side up front where she usually is for the beginning and most of the show. Then have some cardboard signs or something made and held up (like they do at football games). Not sure if this kind of thing would be frowned upon by staff, or even noticed by the performers, but it could be done in a subtle way that doesn't block anyone's view or disrupt the performance.

Have you seen her during Celtic Fyre? She is REALLY into that drum.
Yes she is! I dunno what else she has done at BGW, but she seems genuinely happy to be let loose in Dig It Up. Very entertaining. I think we will see more prominence if she sticks around.

About being Halloweenie, I think I said that too at first. But you know...isn't dressing up as characters enough to qualify as such? Though not really a creepy act, it is definitely dress-up, pretend, make-believe, whatever. :)

Just an idea. She MAKES this show. We love it!!
She is really talented and is one of my favorite performs....but that might be approaching "creepy" level...

Absolutely Loved this show! I thought it was a great fit for Halloween. (even though it wasn't so in your face Halloween Themed) And While I did like the Star Fright Orchestra better.... anything is better than a "dark" theater like Italy has been the past few Halloween seasons. The show also makes me happy to see LIVE Bands/Orchestras returning to the park.

Lol!! Yes, the comments were meant as a light-hearted conversation starter more than anything. But you are right. That may appear creepy. But then again, this is Howl-O-Scream! Who said that scares are for the guests only? Hehehe...

That's what I thought. We have had issues with questionable "fandom" of the performers in the past, which is why I brought it up.
