The city has approved the rezoning of the land that Elitch Gardens sits on for highrise mixed use buildings. The property owners are planning to redevelop the entire property in the coming years. Read the details here.

Good news: There's a few years until this actually happens and the park has plenty of time to relocate

Bad news: The guy who owns Elitch Gardens is the same guy that relocated the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles... (for the sports fans here).

I mean in Kronke's defense the Rams are doing really well right now and they haven't even gotten their new stadium.

They aren't doing well because they relocated. They got a new coach and a good team. Relocating was a spat in the face to St. Louis residents. To me this says the owner probably has little desire to relocate Elitch Gardens to somewhere else in Denver

Not so much for the Browns.

On Topic: Idk if Kronke just owns the property or if he actually owns the park. I'm pretty sure Premier (not the manufacturer) would like to keep one of their operating parks around for the sake of the money made, and how the logistics are going to go with regards to that. None of the articles I've read have offered anything beyond "potential relocation."

The first move to downtown obviously didn't work out. Not to mention leaving all the woodies to rot or be torn down at the old location. The "new" locations was too small and had no way to expand. We thought it was a weird decision at the time. The good rides left behind combined with a small footprint meant small mediocre rides. Plus it got Six Flagged. The live Batman show with stunts, fire, and life size Batmobile, was the most impressive thing. It was only a cute, quaint, half-day park after the move. Sorry, no cool Batman shots were handily scanned. Just this main street shot.

Agreed, the location was only 70 acres and tightly locked in. Amazing downtown placement but no room for the future. I was there in 1996 and never felt I had to go back again. Too bad I missed the original location, which it seems they left because it was too small... ironically enough.

Speaking of small, I loved Lakeside at night. Good, basic fun.

That makes me so very sad... Now I must share it with my dad... He dragged me into this misery.
