That’s not quite what happened— they expanded their “special district” by 1300 acres meaning it includes more land that would pay the district’s taxes. Basically any business in that district (mainly hotels) collect a tax to pay for things in the district like road improvements, the proposed train station, etc.
 
Sounds like they didn't even expand the special development district. A lot of outlets and influencers should be issuing retractions and doing quite the post mortem right now. 😬

Random question but does anyone know how Shingle Creek Development operates relative to the way Reedy Creek used to vs currently does?
