In their preliminary investigation, troopers said they believe that Congdon removed his safety harness at some point while riding on the Mountain Coaster

He was actually a close friend of one of my wife's friends. She (the friend, and the family, of course) are in shock. Apparently I met him at some point years back, but I have no recollection of it.

On a related note. My wife is forbidding me from riding the Wisp mountain coaster. I was actually thinking of riding it this summer for the first time, on the way to Kings Island. I guess I better listen to her, though....

It is a bit hard for me to believe that he unbuckled his seat belt on purpose, though. Why would you do that? If it was a suicide attempt, that seems like a pretty unreliable way to commit suicide. Not to mention that from what I'm told, there was no reason to believe he was suicidal.

How are guests strapped into this ride anyways?

Would think along the same lines as you, wouldn't it be incredibly difficult (intentionally so) for a person to undo or get around the restraints?
