Daytona Beach Roller Coaster Derailment

Does anyone who knows more about roller coasters and/or this particular amusement park have more details on this?

This park and coaster have a history of maintenance issues. AFAIK the formal investigation hasn't started yet, though. This may just have been a freak accident. Hope the victims make a full and swift recovery.

Yes. I had that thought, as well. I guess the cinder blocks in the middle car make more sense now...

According to the article, "...the ride failed two previous inspections in May due to multiple deficiencies, but all of the problems had been corrected before Thursday's accident."

If putting cinder blocks in the middle car is the park's idea of a "correction," someone needs to be fired.
