I'm having an ongoing debate with a couple of my friends about Corkscrew Hill, specifically, that guy who shrinks you down with fairy dust.
You meet a man in the preshows whose name is McTavish. You go back in time and also meet a character named Duncan. My friends think there is a single character named Duncan McTavish who you see in both the present and the past. I disagree. Here is a summary of the evidence on both sides:
They are the same character:
-Why else would you be given the first name of one character and the last of another? So you don't make the connection until the end when...
-Duncan transforms into McTavish. It's supposed to connect the preshow with the ride and give it a little twist at the end.
-Their appearances would agree with the idea that Duncan is a younger McTavish.
They are different characters:
-They have different voice actors, according to IMDB.
-McTavish's eyes are blue, whereas Duncan has green eyes.
-Duncan hates faries and suggests the whole box be sold to the witch. Why would McTavish send you to your doom after shrinking you down?
-At the end, just before Duncan transforms into McTavish his hatred of faries has vanished. My idea--McTavish disguises himself as Duncan (using magic) just before you see him at the end, in order to rescue you.
