Cedar Fair filed a trademark for the name Copperhead Strike and there is a ton of clearance going on at the old Thunder Road station inside the park.

Early rumors has this a possible GCI as it is a good fit for the park.

RE: Project 2019: GCI Woodie?

I think this would be a great addition for Carowinds. Their lineup is heavily dependent on their three great B&Ms (Vortex doesn't count), and I thought Thunder Road was still running pretty well when they announced their plans to tear it down. Initial speculation was that the entire area would be used for a water park expansion, which really bummed me out since Thunder Road left a void that Hurler doesn't really fill. I would love to see them add a really good GCI and then RMC Hurler a la Twisted Timbers (although not a carbon copy) for their next project after that. That would really bolster their pretty top heavy lineup.

RE: Project 2019: GCI Woodie?

Screamscape is reporting that they've uncovered plans for Project 2019 to be an original Mack double launching coaster with possibly four to six inversions and a top hat element. The area the ride is set to occupy is still speculative, but it seems inevitable that at least part of that old Thunder Road station area will be used. If this is true, this will be a very exciting addition not only to Carowinds, but on a national level as well. Mack's European installations have looked really intriguing, and finally getting a legit addition stateside will be great. I'm looking forward to seeing this progress.

No official announcements, but a webcam has quietly been pointed that way. The steam is not linked on their live webcams page yet. Perhaps they may not keep hiding things much longer?

NewsPlusNotes has some teaser images that Carowinds has posted on the construction walls:

http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2018/06/carowinds-starts-teaser-campaign-for.html

Based on the design of these signs this leads me to believe that they might be going with a similar theme to Twisted Timbers and Mystic Timbers. I'm sure many have read that Lance at ScreamScape believes that this will actually be a Mack Multilaunch coaster, but to me the teasers have me feeling like it will be a GCI build. I guess we will see!

Footers in place right now confirm that Carowinds 2019 will not be any kind of wood coaster or RMC hybrid / I-Box.

A teaser poster featuring the Miami River Lumber Company (of Kings Island Mystic Timbers fame) also mentions that wood is not available currently, which could be a cute way of marketing to tell us it won't be a GCI.

Coaster101 has a page dedicated to the teaser posters that have popped up around the construction site for project 2019, the biggest thing popping out from all of them are repeat teasers of "Whyte Lightning" and the number 137.

This coaster looks really good. Great manufacture, great theme, great name, looks well themed, unique layout, and it has an airtime hill in the middle of the second launch! That combo launch + airtime hill may be my most-anticipated new element of 2019 (and there are many). Anyway, there's a great element-by-element breakdown of the ride here that is well worth checking out.

I'm guessing this addition is going to make @UncleDuncan very happy...

So based on the marketing and themeing of this ride, I think Cedar Fair is trying to create their own little "Marvel Cinematic Universe" for their recent coasters with Copperhead Strike, Twisted Timbers, and Mystic Timbers all sharing some sort of shared story universe. Just a thought...

Looks like a good follow up to helix, but without the amazing terrain elements. Looks like a good mix of positive g negative g and hang time.

P.S. Helix is the best coaster I've ridden to date out of about 100, so that's quite a compliment.

As if Carowinds hasn't one-upped Kings Dominion enough with Fury beating I305 in stats. Now this is already shaping up to be a better snake-named coaster than Anaconda, and a better Mack than Avalanche. And while we're at it, a better ride featuring two launches than Volcano.

This is the launch coaster Carowinds desperately needed to round out their lineup.

Anaconda and Avalanche opened like 20+ years ago...

Happily, we do have a better farm-themed coaster. Also, Americana is a better red, white, and blue observation attraction than Carolina Skytower.

that last part is ehhhhhhhhh. If you said Eiffel Tower then I'd agree about the observation part.

Kings Dominion's Ferris Wheel sticks out very poorly in the park, and it's not all that big either.
