RE: Project 2015?

Considering Ihu's breakaway falls just opened, it's most likely going to be Colossal Curl-esque. I just wonder where they are going to fit it...

RE: Project 2015?

Carl did say they were most likely going to duplicate Colossal Curl at other parks because of it's success.

RE: Project 2015?

There last attraction was a four lane mat racer in 2006 so its time for a thrilling family ride. Considering there's nothing like Collosal Curl in Flordia it will definitely give you a reason to make the drive to Tampa.

guys.....

TAMPA, Fla. – Adventure Island® guests are in for an epic journey on the park’s newest thrill ride Colossal Curl™, set to debut at Tampa Bay’s premier waterpark in 2015.
True to its name and holding up to four passengers, this mega slide delivers a high-adrenaline, action-packed adventure, making it the ultimate family thrill slide and adding to the waterpark’s unrivaled combination of corkscrews, waterfalls, high-speed thrills and tropical, tranquil surroundings for guests of all ages.
“We’re excited to continue in our tradition of offering thrilling rides, and slides, at Adventure Island and Busch Gardens® Tampa,” said Park President Jim Dean.
Colossal Curl™ will be located in the center of the park, next to Mango Joe’s Café®, and will take the place of Gulf Scream. The slide will be the tallest ride at Adventure Island at nearly 70 feet and 560 feet in length.
Construction on Colossal Curl™ will begin in the coming weeks and by early 2015 many of the ride’s features will be visible to guests as they arrive at the park.
Riders will hurtle high above Adventure Island’s 30 acres of water-drenched fun in the sun and experience a feeling of weightlessness aboard Colossal Curl™. This colorful slide combines funnel and wave elements for an exciting ride that’s sure to get hearts racing.
This is the first new attraction at the waterpark since 2006, and the ride is expected to open during the 2015 Adventure Island season, which begins March 2015.

They let that out of the bag real quick... And as you can see some originality on the name...

I think it is lazy. The mentality "Oh, we can save money AND not have to do any extra work....Sweeeet".

RE: Project 2015?

I was not expecting this. Adventure Island has such a strong theme to pull a name from, this is just disappointing. Glad they're getting a new ride, but dang this is a new low. Definitely better than what they are removing though.

Colossal Curl fits a surfing theme for WCUSA, but nothing about this sounds tropical. Reusing Gulf Scream sounds better than this.

Well the beginning appears to be different from the Williamsburg version. At the end of the day they haven't gotten a new ride in nine years so the park deserves a new attraction. BGT if you happen to reading this for a neat little throwback to the other previous slide tower change the name to the "Tampa Typhoon".
