"P.S.A. for your weekend...if you don't want a black eye and a sore neck from riding the new colossal curl at water country make sure the employee checks to make sure the raft in front of you is not stuck before sending you down. Terrifying!" (insert pictures of my cousin's daughter with a black eye HERE...Which I will not post.)

The tubes collided Matthew. I'm trying to get more details CK. Her picture is on their FB page.

Where in the tube did it get stuck?
The tube was stuck in the top funnel when the operator let the 2nd one go and they collided. The park has responded and I'm sure they will be making any adjustments necessary to prevent this kind of accident from occurring again. Now....Off to the F&W festival! WooHoo!

It was probably due to a heavy inner-tube stalling, and the lack of water going through the top tube. I'd expect them to increase the water pressure going through the top, so if an inner-tube were to stall again, the water would get it moving again.

Well, this isn't a bad ad. Definitely better than the Vanish point ones, not that I'll ever see it on actual TV though.

In my opinion (don't bash me, we all have them) this was the most overrated ride I have ever been on. There is nothing to it.. You start off by going down a tiny hill into the tornado. Once you go back and forth for a little, you proceed through a tube at an intimidating speed of .2 mph. You then make a right turn, and go into a pretty thrilling drop, to only go half way up a ramp, and back down. Bam ride is over. Every water ride I rode today, was more fun and thrilling than this.

I'd give this ride a 2/5. Once the ride was completed I wasn't quite sure if I had ridden a water ride, or if I went back down the steps. They could've made this a much better ride, it has the potential. It is just WAY to short, and it looked like a very rushed project.

My overall water country experience today was a 9/10 though :)

It's actually longer than almost all of the rides in the park. I respect your opinion and all, but I can't agree with any of it, nor do I think any of your arguments and unecessary sarcastic comments are valid, but we do have a right to an opinion. I'm just saying though, you're the only one who feels that way. Every single person I've talked to said it's the best slide in the park, or their favorite water-ride in general.

Don't fret redsoxfan787, I do see where your coming from and I actually do agree somewhat. Though let me explain my full reason for this conclusion.

The ride itself really is short, then again most of the park's rides are short. Aquazoid is the longest slide in the park. Malibu Pipeline is even just a little bit longer. Big Daddy Falls, Meltdown, and Colossal Curl are all in the size range as far as being long. However, the good point of the ride is, it doesn't rely on length, it relies on it's elements.

The two elements are something that the park doesn't have and makes the ride that much unique and different. I think it is a good step towards some much better rides and much needed expansion. Thats not to say it is a bad ride because I am sure it is actually really on par with what the park offers already and there is nothing wrong with that. But by going forward with new elements shows they are trying to diversify their lineup of rides.

A lot of the current slides have no amazing elements other than waterfalls and being enclosed. Aquazoid had/has effects, but as far as elements go it was most just a simple slide just with a different path than the others. A lot of their rides are alike that. Meltdown, Big Daddy Falls, Malibu Pipeline, Wild Thang, Aquazoid are mostly just straight up slides with different paths. The same elements are used in different ways such as enclosed parts and waterfalls.

I liked Vanish Point and Colossal Curl being added because they had different elements that the park has never had and helps to really diversify things. I am expecting the next addition will follow suit and will include other elements not yet featured in the park. Only two more seasons before the next one :p

PR: have you actually ridden CC?

I ask, because I don't think you can judge a ride based on analytics alone. It isn't a hamet or building or something that is mostly about theming or components or whatever. Those things matter to a certain extent. But at the end of the day, the most important element of a ride is how it makes you feel.

I love CC, because of the speed and intensity of the elements. The length and uniqueness are relevant, but not for me deciding factors. In fact, I've been on well- themed and/or unusual rides that were just terrible, because the physical experience was so unpleasant or boring.

I will always defend everyone's right to an opinion, but I think a well researched and informed opinion carries more weight.

This is in response to both of you (PR & Matthew). I know I came off as very harsh, but I was just very disappointed. I was expecting so much more. It is great eye candy from the parking lot though. I definitely would not say this is one of the longest rides in the park.

I know people love it, and I'm glad people like it. It was just mehh to me. I guess what I hated the most is it never had the chance to gain any speed. If it were me designing it, I would have made the beginning of the ride start off with a steep drop, and then head into a much bigger tornado.

Party Rocker, you made some very great points. I am thrilled to see the park trying to add new and unique attractions. The elements are very neat, I just feel like they could have done so much more with this ride. Like I said, there was hardly any speed heading into the tornado, and the ride finally picked up speed going into the ramp, but it ended right after that.

Now that I think about it, the other rides are very similar. But there aren't any boring parts with each ride, they all maintain a decent speed.

I wonder what Water Country has in store for us next? :p

To have a steep drop at the beginning, and to have a bigger tornado would be almost impossible, the tower would have to be bigger than Vanish Point's and there wouldn't even be enough room in the first place.

And yes, CC is one of the longest rides in the park, right behind Big Daddy Falls, but that's just because Big Daddy Falls has a lazy river in the middle of the ride. It is around the same length of both Aquazoid and Meltdown though. All of the smaller slides are no where near the length of CC. But, I do agree with you, while the actual ride duration is pretty long, the ride goes by fast, mostly because it is so fun, and fun things always go by faster than not-fun things, if you know what I mean.

Nic, I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression but my post mainly refers to the ride in terms of length. I mention the elements as a factor; however, I do not get into if the elements themselves are good or not.

Length is not an opinion it is a fact. A ride can only be say so many hundred feet and thats it. They don't add on to the ride or take away from the ride in between rides. If you compare the actual length of Colossal Curl to Aquazoid, Colossal Curl is quite short.

Speed is a contributing variable that has the ability to change. Speed mainly changes due to weather conditions, water pressure, weight, etc. Speed is something you do have to actually ride it to know. I can't speak for speed itself,a dn in my original post I make no claim that I do.

Timing is also a contributing factor that changes just like speed. Speed actually effects timing greatly. Timing is something that you can record without riding and can compare to other rides in similar conditions. I have not personally checked out the times; however, I can only assume due to the length of the ride, the ride itself can be quite short; however, the timing can be extended by part of the ride slowing down as some had mentioned making the ride seem longer.

Overall, my post was not taking into account any real opinion based on experience, timing, speed, etc. My post was stating the simple fact, judging by length, Colossal Curl is not the longest and is actually surpassed by a few slides in the park. I do understand that my terminology may be confusing due to the fact that length and time use some of the same words such as 'longest', 'shortest', etc. I also mainly do apologize for referring to the ride as bad or good as I was not referring to the experience but comparing the actual length (size) of the rides.

Your key word there is, "almost." There is room. I'm not talking about the size of Tornado at Kings Dominion.

And are you kidding me? It is without a doubt one of the shortest rides at the park. And nowhere did I say the ride duration on CC was long.
