Sheikra is only slightly better than Griffon because of the better theming. Tampa did a much better job of letting it blend in with the surroundings than what Williamsburg did with Griffon.

Pesto is a nice little bonus. Nothing special but something to hold us over till the next big-budget attraction coming in a few years. I'd expect the park will return to big-budget, well themed rides with the next major attraction.

Anyway, that Cobra model from IAAPA looks awesome. Anyone wanna go down there and steal it for me? ;)

Made a quick pitstop to BGT on Saturday.

You can easily see the Cobra Curse construction from the Montu entrance.  The ride looks interesting, especially the helix.

I was there yesterday for an hour or two but it was getting late so I couldn't get pictures. The snake has started to go vertical and there is now an ugly tin hut at the top of the lift.

Here's a photo dump from this weekend. They still have a ton of work left on the theming and Queue area.
Album

Note the unfinished footers and the very sloppy finished footer that sits right outside the gate to Egypt. I hope that they clean it up cause it screams "concrete poured by the lowest bidder".

BGT has released a "webisode"!

I think its amazing that they are putting so much work in the detail, even including the queue lines.

I love that they talked so much about the snakes and their new habitat.

Also, the queue looks cool.

^The POV looks pretty good for a family coaster but I can't say I'm excited for it. I do like how it doesn't spin like a Gravitron throughout the ride.

I wonder if they used the multiple angles to hide unfinished work (such as the other eye missing on the snake king). Frankly that made the POV almost unwatchable to me. Though I do get the point that they want you to see the other car spinning.

I think this ride will shine through lighting (no pun intended) and the various other theatrical effects added to enhance the experience. This, in my opinion, puts Egypt back on the park map. Maybe this will even constitute using the Egypt station again. Much like Mako, it's not only a coaster; it's a realm.

Alrighty, just got back from the park yesterday. The pacing for this ride isn't bad at all. The ride is very well themed and a very impressive family coaster. There is one very big issue however: technical difficulties. The ride had several technical closures throughout the morning. Towards the end of the day the ride was operating fine. I did notice that one of the cars wasn't unlocking to spin freely during that potion of the ride. I anticipate that this ride could be a bit of a maintenance nightmare. Hopefully everything gets ironed out quickly.

The Egypt train station was demolished as a part of Cobra's Curse construction.

Currently, the Congo train station is used as their "peak season station", since few people go back there.

Cake Wars on the Food Network had an episode that featured Cobra's Curse. I don't watch the show but just happened to catch a rerun last night. The cakes looked awful but whatevs. I'm sure they were delicious.
