Awful news out of Fun Spot Kissimmee. Given what I've observed of staff at that park, I wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not.

Sad and praying for the family but as @Zachary said can’t say I’m surprised. Fun Spot is gaining a reputation with regulations.

For those that havent ridden it, this ride is similar to Ragin Cajun at Six Flags America. There is a ton of centripetal force exerted on guests every time the cars spin, and you really need to be strapped down tight. And even when you are strapped down tight, your body is still moving with every spin.

As @warfelg said, all thoights and prayers should be with the family right now.

Moving forward, it will be time to hold folks accountable.

Given rhis happened mid week during daytime hours, park staffing was probably minimal and the restraint likely wasn't properly checked. Completely inexcuseable, and the park should be fined and ride ops disciplined.

I guess the only positive for FSA is that it doesn't appear to be a maintenance issue, such as a crack going unnoticed for over a week along the Carolina border.

For those that havent ridden it, this ride is similar to Ragin Cajun at Six Flags America.

Just a small detail worth noting: Galaxy Spin is a Zamperla mouse while Rajin Cajun is from Reverchon. They're very similar in a lot of ways, but the restraints are completely different. The Zamperla spinners use individually racheting lapbars instead of the multi-person over-the-shoulder lap bars found on the Reverchon mice.

I'm honestly having a much harder time imagining how something like this could have happened with Zamperla's restraint. Pretty certain the op had to have done something wrong.

These’s enough space between the ratchets when they are at different heights for someone small to get out if they wanted.

Kind of interestingly I was mock watching a video and it was all about “cheating” restraints for a “better” ride and I swear half of them were done at a Fun Spot location.
