I’m going to be honest, this would be destructive to the culinary leaps this park has made in the last few years. They made it a point to cut the chain restaurants—Chick-Fil-A, Subway, and Panda Express to name a few—and it has done amazing things. We got Grain & Grill, Firehouse BBQ, and Outpost Cafe.
The Subway appears to have been replaced with an expanded refill station.
Grain & Grill brought better, healthier items than Panda Express served by introducing fresher meats, preparing everything in house, and a better overall meal.
Firehouse BBQ brought in a style of food the park didn’t previously invest well in—BBQ. The food offerings there have been fantastic and have always looked good each time I’ve visited.
Outer Hanks went from my least visited to one of my most visited restaurants with the transformation into Outpost Cafe, specifically drawing me in with the Prime Rib offering. The food there, while it has been cut down a tiny bit (Prime rib is NOT cheap), is still very good.
Even Jukebox Diner & Jungle Market Eatery saw their menus get overhauls with higher quality ingredients and a new menu item or two. Overall the park’s food quality is significantly better than it used to be 10 years ago, and bringing in Johnny Rockets, while it wouldn’t be that different theme-wise, would likely bring down the food quality that Jukebox Diner currently serves, and overall make it feel cheaper than it currently is.
KD spent plenty of time trying to correct their image from the 90s and the restaurants were part of that. Johnny Rockets quite frankly doesn’t belong in KD.
