Off what has been a real hot streak of horrible behavior from Cedar Point/Cedar Fair, we have yet another example of park leadership up at The Point making absolute fools of themselves. Cedar Point has now removed their hometown newspaper, The Sandusky Register, from the media list.

This, of course, comes on the heels of great, important, investigative journalism by local, traditional, print media looking into Cedar Point's behavior surrounding the Top Thrill injury, the lengthy chain of sexual assaults in Cedar Point employee housing, Cedar Point's attempts to cover up the misconduct of their associated police force, and more.

Actual behavior. Shame on Cedar Point for enacting this ban and shame on Cedar Fair for permitting this decision. If there was any justice in this world, people would raise holy hell about this and every bit of reporting out of the Top Thrill 2 media event(s) would include a paragraph dedicated to Cedar Point's treatment of journalists vis-à-vis The Sandusky Register and the crucial stories The Register has been covering. Tragically, realistically, this news will likely go largely ignored by the public and thoosies alike. Meanwhile, Cedar Point will get plenty of public praise from the bottomless pit of self-interested bloggers and vloggers that will flood the media event no matter the park's behavior—content to report exactly what Cedar Fair tells them to exactly how Cedar Fair wants it—all while real journalism dies, suffocating in exile, partially at the hands of Cedar Point.

CF wants a clean corporate image no matter what it means. If it means they have to cover up shitty maintenance by their park over a totally preventable incident, and covering up sexual assault in the dorms, they’ll do it. No ethical consumption under capitalism, and cf is just proving how scummy companies can be.

I don’t know why this would be surprising. Cedar fair is a horrible, dishonest company. They enjoy practices such as bait and switch and false advertising. So add pro/ropaganda anti-truth their list of unethical business practices.

There’s a very good reason that Matt Ouimet isn’t involved anymore.

This has made me less inclined to visit Cedar Point. I don’t want to support any business that tries to silence criticism.

This reminds me of a famous example where journalists found the new iPhone in a bar and Apple stopped inviting them to things. Corporate pride does hold onto people.

Freedom of the Press unless it makes powerful businesses look bad.....I mean it's not new. It's certainly not fun to see an example in our hobby that is for sure, especially at a park like Cedar Point. I did come away with a less favorable impression of the park in 2022 than I expected, I mean it was after two AMAZING days at Kings Island which is unfortunately also a Cedar Fair park. There is a lot to dislike about Cedar Point at the end of the day and this just makes all of that so much worse and leaves a poor taste in my mouth.

I went to Cedar Point last year for the first time since Magnum was new, and the only real disappointment was that Maverick wasn't as good as I was expecting (still good, though). But that's got nothing to do with their media manipulation. I participated in the SFA Firebird media day via Ace, and gave it 5 or 6 rides for some reason, and nobody told me I couldn't trash the ride. Which I did. lol.

There’s the thing though. It’s not a *new* attraction. It’s a redesigned new attraction driven by the issues of the previous iteration of the ride.

Curious @MaxxForceFan what part of this are you rolling your eyes at? TT2 is a reimagined version of TTD. The continued maintenance issues and the unfortunate life changing event is what played into this needing to happen. So I don't see why that's not a relevant part of the story.
