Managed to sneak away from my family gathering this weekend to visit Carowinds for Winterfest. Their 2 best rides being open now is a big plus but admittedly I was a bit too cold to fully enjoy Fury. Some photos I took at the event:

Carowinds has the best lights IMO of any amusement park for a winter event. Silver Dollar City has a ton of lights but they are mainly on the buildings. At Carowinds they are all over the trees and shrubs which I prefer. It’s more immersive.
The trees at Carowinds are absolutely loaded with lights. Over 200 trees. Even the other Cedar Fair parks put about half as many lights in each tree as a Carowinds does.

Carowinds is definitely up there as one of the best. I believe the best is Christmas Town at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The lights are amazing. The shows are fantastic. Only no down side other than some coasters being closed due to cold weather.
Just returned from Disney World/Universal and stopped by Carowinds Friday evening for early entry and a few rides on Copperhead and Fury.
Beautiful park. Carowinds is definitely getting the love. Even the LED replacements on the carousel are the correct warm white color (unlike the cheap cool whites at Busch Gardens).

The video is a few days old it's from right after the string North Easter blew through. I would assume the extreme high winds that came with it were responsible for this.
When you watch the video directly from the embed video, it doesn't show the caption.
The post said that due to high winds, they went to lower the gondola.
My guess is that due to the slack in the light strings as the gondola was lowering, it looks like a gust hit a strand perfectly and hung up around the ladder. Which is why the maintenance worker had to make the climb.
Insane the winds were so high they deemed it necessary to lower the gondola. I imagine the seats were hitting each other and they didn't want to damage itself.

To demonstrate how bad the winds were the museum ship aircraft carriers USS Yorktown only about 3 hours away from Carowinds was moved 25 feet from where it's sits deliberately embedded in mud. Hurricane Hugo is the only other storm to have previously causes her to shift.
