It doesn't look like he has ever worked (or even been involved with for that matter) Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

I'll give him a chance. He's got the books stacked against him tho.

It's curious they selected an accountant with limited themed entertainment experience to manage the parks. But, I too will just wait and see.
He might be awesome, who knows. Let's just hope he keeps the guest experience in mind. It's not all about squeezing the last nickle out of every ticket holder. Keep, and build on the quality of the past. BGW has always prided itself on being better than the rest. Don't fall into the amusement park trap of just jamming in a new thrill ride every few years. It's a balance of family experiences and thrills that keeps me loving this place.

These are scary but exciting times for a wisened pass holder like me. I can still remember when "Nessie" was just chunks of steel layed out in the parking lot. Don;t get me wrong, I love what the park has become but protecting the charm of "The Old Country" days will be the trick.

"Illuminights" was a great addition, but that horrid Cuckoo clock at the Festhaus is an example of when things go too far. Well, that and the crazy rainbow paint in Ireland, and the europop' BGM in Octoberfest and Aquataine. anywoo....

I'm off my soapbox.

Good Luck, Mr. Lum

I hope you love the park like we do.

Well said oldtimer.

I find it a little troubling (to say the least) that he hasn't worked in a position other than finance and has very little to no experience with Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I wanted someone who started at the bottom years ago and slowly made his way up the food chain- someone who knew what the park was and sees what the park can be- someone who was here while it was still The Old Country. Mr. Lum doesn't seem to be that guy. That's what I liked about the former GM: He started out as a ride op and eventually made his way to the top of the Williamsburg parks- those are the people I admire. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :-/
