So some people believe this is what’s actually moving to the old Mac Bowl location in CAG.

I have to say that makes a lot of sense. Currently there isn’t much space inside for the line, the placement of the registers is a bit unintuitive and causes some backup that slows down the queue. And the line often spills out into the midway, which causes crowding right in front of the park entrance and obstructs foot traffic.

It says it opens next weekend, wonder if border will stay open, whether for the rest of the year, next year as well or not at all.

EDIT: On the website, Border Burritos is no longer listed. The app still has border, and no Cactus Grove

I believe the plan was once this was open, border burritos on international street would close to prepare for whatever is going on for next year there.

I hope this is a temporary stopgap until a real, comprehensive Candy Apple Grove overhaul can be accomplished. It's a lateral move thematically from Taco Shack or Mac Bowl and I assume it's a miniscule investment so I won't be too fussy about it, but this is not something I want in CAG.

My understanding is that they are on a tight timeline to convert Border to it's new role I'm time for the 50th and that closer and work will more or less begin immediately.

I was hoping they’d do something to give the new restaurant an aesthetic tie to CAG, but unless the logo they shared isn’t what they’ll use at the actual restaurant, I don’t have much hope for that anymore. Lame, especially after they just put so much work into making Victoria’s aesthetically and thematically fit CAG better than it ever has before.

Honestly a restaurant announcement is much better than the chaos that is the BGW coaster poll announcement.

Still live on Facebook. Looks like they gave a much less aggressive opening timeline in their Facebook post though. Probably means it won't be ready this weekend as the tweet claimed.

I noticed on Sunday that the sign and some other aesthetic details have been installed.

I still think the logo looks more 1950s than it does turn-of-the-century or 1920s like the rest of the main CAG midway supposedly represents. But other details — like the new wooden lattice behind the sign and the ornamental flag holders that match the new ornaments on Victoria’s — seem to fit the existing CAG aesthetic.

There are some clever little details though. If you look closely, maracas that the little cactus guy are holding are actually candy apples. And the maracas actually move!

According to ChatGPT (reputable source, I know), animated billboards like that became popular in the 1920s. So while I wish the logo looked more distinctly earlier 20th century, I appreciate the whimsical little touches they added here. It reminds me of IOA and all the little animated signs that park has.

Also, it looks like this restaurant is ready to open any day now. Seating has been installed around the building again, and the TV monitors are already displaying the new menu inside.

It would be surprising to see KD turn the I-street Borders location back to some sort of full-service restaurant like it was when the park opened in 1975. Yes, that location seated you at your table and waitstaff took your order and delievered your food to your table.

If the location stays a restaurant for 2025, I think this is part of the 50th anniversary park makeover.
