So the initial food and wine permits have come through and there's something noteworthy in there. Namely this:

The referenced plan (SP-23-0022) is for Japan.

This likely indicates that Japan is out and being reskinned to Turkey.

Menus and map for 2024 Food & Wine Festival have gone live

I like Africa, but honestly that is ridiculously vague. Within Africa are so many countries they could highlight. It's like saying Europe. I am very excited, but I think several of these booths are getting pretty dated. Hopefully the menu's will be refreshed.

[Africa] tone deaf.
Better that it’s included than not. In one shot, people get exposure to the names/flavors of foods from Mozambique, Egypt, and South Africa — a whole new set of Sysco-level flavors to enjoy!

It could have been skipped entirely, but they’re at least trying something new!

(This optimistic message instead of a truly tone deaf comment about food and water shortages at the stand.) 🤣

Are they narrowing down where each dish comes from when you buy it? Africa had 54 countries with a lot of cuisine. Saying Africa is quite broad.

I think it's to be broadly accessible. Most Americans have limited exposure/ access to African food.
I think this is the key.

How many of the average park goers will know the difference in cuisine between Nigeria and South Africa? Congo vs Sahara?

I, for one, am glad they were able to showcase a dish from a few unique African regions rather than limiting the one booth to a smaller region and ignoring the rest. It likely does a better job of introducing an entire continent worth of food to a new and inexperienced audience as well.

The way they didn’t with a “Europe” booth?
It also makes sense that a European themed park has more specific European booths while still being able to include South America, Asia, North America, and now Africa.

IMG_1526.jpeg Final list was revealed. Mostly the same but notably, Japan was replaced with Turkey. From what I heard, Turkey is going to be exclusively vegetarian options. (Update: I should not listen to culinary people)

Sorry to contradict you; but beef and lamb shawarma is definitely not vegetarian. The menu has been up for a long time on the BGW site.
