So the Big Apple Coaster (formerly known as Manhattan Express) at the NYNY Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas recently got new Premier trains and they just started testing a few days ago.

Well, this happened yesterday...

I have no idea what happened but the lift hill stairs on the right and train are ruined (look at the wheel assemblies all jumbled up).

I hope they tear it down and replace it with an Intamin (kinda like Thunder Dolphin in Japan).

That's insane! Curious what the reason for the carnage was...

I wonder if there was any metal fatigue issues, isn't that ride an old Togo creation?

It's actually a relatively young Togo -- 1997. Also the second set of Premier trains since 2006, which may be one reason it didn't live down to its reputation to me (along with, they rarely do). I did find that the part that should have been simple high speed fun distracted with roughness and the inversions section was decent but small and slow, and while it looks great driving by, the views from the coaster are ugly tar roofs. But I was able to go ride it on foot from the hotel, due to being with people with no interest in riding anything.

It worries me more that the train was just defective than it had anything to do with being attached to this notorious coaster.

It would be better to just forget the new trains altogether and send this ride to the scrap heap. Perhaps they could replace it with an RMC Raptor so that Las Vegas finally gets a decent coaster.

I may be out that way in the next year, was hoping to get a ride but that may not happen the way it's looking - too bad such an RMC wouldn't likely be around so quickly unless another resort was adding it.

Not missing much. It was so rough for me that Gizzly feels like a walk in the park.
